  1. Thanks so much for the new nplayers ini file, worked like a charm! Recently came back to GameEX after trying out HS for a long time and love all the changes and new features!
  2. Just wanted to say that I think I solved the problem. I put my GTX 465 video card back in to test it against the on-board video and installed the latest drivers for it. Games seem to all exit in uniform length, about 5 seconds which is fine by me. Not entirely sure if it was a bad driver install the first time, the updated drivers since then, or just plain luck. But back in business so it's okay by me.
  3. Sorry for the confusion. Yes I played the same game 4 times in a row, changing how long I played it to see how long it loaded GameEX back up.
  4. Here's my log.txt file. I ran Donkey Kong using the default theme about 4 or 5 times. When I exited out right away it loaded GameEX within a couple seconds, but when I played it for a bit (maybe 5 minutes?) it hanged on exit for about 20 seconds or so. I'll have to do more testing but it seems the longer I play a game the longer it takes to load GameEX? I double checked the Power Options in control panel as well. I have hibernate, sleep, etc all off. Hard Disk is set to sleep after 20 minutes, changed it to 600 for the heck of it and didn't change anything. Thanks for the replies. Hopefully can figure this out. log.txt
  5. This has been driving me crazy so I thought I'd ask here and see if anybody can figure it out. Ever since I went and redid my MAME cabinet's PC setup (new HDD, new GameEX install and setup), I've had the following issue. When I exit a game from MAME to go back to GameEX, it will hang a random amount of time before GameEX loads. This can be a couple seconds (which is fine), or up to 30+ seconds... which drives me nuts. I do not get any errors and things do run fine, but I have had it wait for a few minutes before on exit of a game. Even if I repeatedly test exiting out of the same game, say Donkey Kong, it will have this random length of lag. I've changed options in GameEX, turned just about anything I could off, but no luck. I have had this happen with both on board video as well as a newer graphics card. Am I missing something obvious, or does this sound like a hardware issue? Any ideas are appreciated .
  6. After trying your great new theme out,I was wondering if you would consider changing something. Would it be possible to eliminate the "Select Game" image completely? To me it feels a bit off since not everybody has X as the button to select a game, and it blocks a bit of the video anyways. Couple other minor things: The image for "GameEX" that pops up after your loading screen seems choppy on my screen, I am not sure if that is my own issue or not. Also, on the MAME background's picture the NeoGeo cab's black color shows transparent on my screen. Once again I'm not sure if this is just me. Thanks again!
  7. Hooray! I'm grabbing it right now, thanks! Glad you are going to try for a widescreen version as well .
  8. Just signed up as a lifetime member for emumovies. The ftp is very fast! I managed to grab just about everything fairly quickly. I've even started making my own vids for a few that aren't in emumovies yet, such as about 15 or so US NES games. It's not that hard at all (using fraps and virtualdub) but then again I'm not using the nice transition effects that Circo uses simply due to time. I might mess around with that another time to get them the quality needed to upload them to the ftp. My ultimate goal is to get a front box art image and video preview for all my systems on my cabinet. I like how the theme is going vsilvalopes. I'll have you know I've only really been checking this site every few days just to check on your theme haha .
  9. Wow I must have missed that theme somehow. Looks really slick I'll have to try it out after I reassemble my MAME cabinet. I like the look of a list with the box art on the bottom below the video preview. Haha now I'm going to spend the next month grabbing them all from various places. Edit: Holy crap I just downloaded Carl's video logos. I can't wait to get all of this set in the cab now. This community just tops itself all the time. Awesome!
  10. Thanks, I didn't know emumovies had snaps as well! 1920 X 1200 works great on my 26" widescreen hdtv. I currently have Retrobox on my MAME cabinet as a GameEX theme and it looks great at that resolution.
  11. I like the new look vsilvalopes! I can't wait for it to be complete, especially a widescreen version . I don't suppose you might share where to grab those title snapshots of games without doing it all one by one myself. I have video previews but can't find a good source of title snapshots to use as the game list.
  12. Looks great! I'll look forward to updates and a release. I like how the emphasis is on the screenshot/video and how smoothly everything is put, I can't think of another theme quite like this. Good work!
  13. Ah okay then. For now I'll stick to a text list then, hopefully the request is possible .
  14. Will do, thanks!
  15. So I went to play around with the new V4 theme addition since I haven't messed around with GameEX in a long time. I really like the option of making the game selection screen images rather than a text list. So I went to try it out by putting my NES box art in the snap directory and loaded up GameEX. It works, but the images are zoomed in to fit since NES box art are not perfect squares. Is there any option or way to prevent the zooming in of the pictures in the game list? Basically I'm trying to have the box art not stretched or zoomed in within the game selection list.
  16. I recently installed GameEX onto my new PC and went to unlock it with the same gameexreg.gxkey I got back when I purchased the full version of GameEX. It no longer seems to work, after successfully adding it to the registry I still get the donation screen on start. My key is from about 3 years ago if that helps at all. Please let me know how to get a correct key, I can attatch my current key if needed. Thanks.
  17. Wow, guess it's time to update GameEX on my MAME cabinet huh? Thanks!
  18. I recently added a bunch of tosec dreamcast gdi images to my harddrive for use in gameex. Each game has various bin and raw files that are all named generically such as track 1. So if I extract them all into the same directory it obviously won't work, since there will be so many files with the same name. I know subdirectories for roms aren't supported in gameex, but I was wondering if anybody knows of a workaround with this particular situation. I've tried tricks found on the forums here such as hard linking (crashes nulldc), having folders named exactly as the images in the rom directory and using rompath\rom\romfile (doesn't show up in gameex game list then), and using map files (crashes gameex when go to browse dreamcast games). I read a suggestion of using a wrapper but I have no idea how to make one. If anybody else uses the tosec dreamcast gdi images in gameex, could you please share how you made it work?
  19. Of course a bit later and I figured it out myself. It turns out it had nothing to do with closemul. I had to have xpadder running already from windows startup (before/during gameex loads), and then in the emulator configuration I put the "launch before" command in for the emulator profile. I then added a dreamcast xpadder profile and tested the switching between the two and it worked perfect! I kept xpadder running the whole time, never telling gameex to kill the process. By loading the profile in each different gameex emulator config (launch before), it switches smoothly.
  20. I'm relatively new to xpadder so I might be missing something obvious, but I can't figure out what it is. I have xpadder set up by itself with a profile for 3do saved, and that works fine. I have freedo working in gameex with closemul v3 using advice found on these forums (was originally going to use freedowrapper, but then links I found didn't work so I discovered closemul in another post here), and it works great. However, I'd like to use xpadder in addition due to freedo not supporting gamepad input. When I edit gameex settings to run xpadder before or along with closemul for freedo, something strange happens. The screen freezes and only allows me to hit escape to exit back to gameex. When I exit gameex xpadder is running fine in the system tray minimized, with my gamepad profile loaded just like I wanted. When I exit xpadder, closemul takes over instantly and runs freedo and the game I had selected. I've deleted the run before/run during setting in gameex to test what is going on. I deleted those settings, then opened my 3do setting in xpadder. Then I ran gamex, ran a 3do game, and closemul took over right away and ran it fine like I want it to. The controls on my gamepad worked as well this way. However all of this eliminates what I want to do, which is only open xpadder WITH freedo using closemul, load my 3do profile, play the game, and then kill xpadder on exit of the game (all within gameex). If anybody has any idea why closemul hates xpadder so much please reply. I'm open to any ideas or suggestions.
  21. If it's just those two games, I'd double check your frame files and roms first. I'm using daphne-1.0beta-win32 myself, and have these games running fine. Post what version of daphne you're running and any other info you have and maybe somebody can figure it out for you. There's multiple versions of daphne, roms, and video files of these games out there so the more info you have the better.
  22. Just wanted to say thanks for this project. This is why MAME will always be my favorite emulator, there's such a huge following out there.
  23. I got it working, although I'm not exactly sure what did it. This time I took JUST the mame.exe file from the compiled mame source and placed it into a directory with the extracted mame binary. I also put the bezel files (zipped) into the mame binary folder's artwork folder. What I had been doing was just telling gameEX where the mame artwork folder was in settings (it wasn't in the mame directory). Right now I don't have any directory in that place in the GameEX settings, it's blank. One of these changes made it work, and I'm not sure which one it was but I'm happy now .
  24. I can't get the controls to show when I pause MAME when keeping them zipped either. I even thought maybe I forgot to add the bezel patch for 129u2, so I went back and recompiled MAME again (using 129u1, 129u2, hiscore, and bezelpatch129u2 diffs). I put them into the artwork folder, and I'm still not getting anything to show.
  25. I'm having the same problem, but by using the export -> bezel method instead. I created all of the bezels, unzipped them all and put them into the mame artwork directory. I can browse it by selecting "artwork" in gameEX when I'm browsing games, but when I pause mame nothing comes up. I patched the 129 mame source with 129u1, 129u2, then the hiscore patch, then the 129u2 bezel patch. I've also tried this including the 129u3 patch and have gotten the same result. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm out of ideas.
