  1. Yes, inside mame. When you press 'tab' key you can set assign buttons and mouse controls. In any other FE whilst playing a game I can hit 'tab' and change the mouse controls - mouse 1 and mouse 2 both x and y axis. With gameEX I have no mouse support at all in a game. Can't even assign mouse in mame. I can hardly believe I'm the only one that can use trackball/spinner with GameEx. Thats why unfortunately I have been using Mala instead. Not that its a bad FE but I registered gameex because I really like it but unfortunately I can't use it.
  2. I can't get the trackball or spinner recognized inside mame game when using gameEx. I have mouse selected in options. When pressing 'tab' to go to analog controls when I move mouse I can't change the x and y properties. I have no other problems in the other front end programs. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.
  3. Ok, I think I finally got it correct somehow... Buttons and joysticks work now but trackball/spinner are not getting recognized inside mame game. I've hit tab key in mame to try and assign the two mouse inputs but i can't bring up the y mouse, x mouse thing in the analog controls. I can get trackball/spinner to behave properly in mame32 gui, just not in GameEx. I have mouse enabled in input settings is there any place else in GameEx to get mouse inputs recognized? Even still I have to program winipac everytime i reboot.
  4. I feel really stupid. I've never had this issue before until the latest versions of mame. In the command line box that you want me to put that line, mine had the following: -device_video_output fullscreen -quiet -dir_rom "C:\Emulators\Mame32\roms" I deleted this and put the line you gave me and I still get the black screen and the repeated beeping. As for a fresh install of mame.. I have many different versions of mame in my emulator directory. I have a bunch of them because I have been trying a lot of versions of mame and mame32. Are you saying that I need a mame and a mame32?? I didn't think so but I am out of ideas as to why I can't get this going for me. I have no idea if I"ve remamped my settings to standard mame settings. All I know is that I have programmed the original default settings for my classic slikstik. Then what I do is take the slikstik.cfg file and put it in the ctrlr directory. I so much appreciate your help. Its amazing that I fix people's computers and build computers all the time and have no problems but I can't fix my own issue here with this. This has been frustrating me for quite some time. Here is another wierd thing about the situation. When I power down the computer and load up GameEx before I can use my slikstik controller I have to go back and re-program winipac everytime! Its almost as if it can't save the info on the ipac??? But yet it tells me it saved successfully.
  5. Hmmm... didn't seem to work. Would not load the game up. Would just start beeping and see black screen. Maybe I did it wrong I will try again but your answer seemed like a common one.
  6. I can't seem to get any help. Slikstik forums are dead so I thought I would get an answer here. I've been tearing my hair out for months trying to get my slikstik to work with ANY front end correctly. I registered GameEX because I thought maybe it would cure my problems. It didn't. Here is the issue: I know that I've programed the i-pac correctly. When in WinIpac every button that I push corresponds correctly. The letters are correct too. For example my shift key is in the proper place, My 1up coin button, Pause, etc, etc... I can't seem to get mame mapped to these buttons for some strange reason. It's almost like it doesn't actually save or something or it doesn't know how to read the .ini file inside my ctlr directory. I'm running mame32 v1.07. I have slikstik.cfg in the ctrl directory. (I've tried it both ways with a slikstik folder in sided ctrl director and just slikstik.cfg without another sub directory). Amazingly if I use the mame32 gui interface most of the buttons work fine along with the trackball. If it works in here how come it won't work in GameEx? Doesn't make any sense! In GameEx have both the slikstik and keyboard direct options selected. I would appreciate any help. I love this front end so much but I can't enjoy it because something is not right in my setup. Thanks for any ideas you may have.
  7. I upgraded manually but I don't think it worked. Do you install to the same directory or different one? Thanks for the help.
  8. Is there an way to upgrade to the new software thru the configuration or front end? I tried to upgrade last night by d/l'ing the new version but i don't think it took. Is there a file I can look at that would tell me I have the latest version? Thanks.
  9. Well, I answered my own question!!! Seems I was using version 108 up to current is why I wasn't seeing the roms. Seems game ex has an issue with newer versions of mame because they can be seen in mame32 gui. Hope this helps. Thanks so much for a wonderful software program.
  10. Hello all. My first post. I just registered because I think this is such a great front end for my cab. I have somewhat the same situation with game ex not recognizing all my roms. If I use mame32 gui (not in game ex) I can see all my roms. However in GameEX I can't see but maybe 20 percent of my roms. I've read the faq's and doc's, updated game list, taken out all filters, show all roms regardless if imperfect or clones, etc... I'm tearing my hair out here. I love game ex thats why i registered and I hate having to use the mame32 gui to play a lot of stuff. Anyone help? I've searched these forums and can't find my answer. I thought maybe it was because of the versions of mame I've used but that hasn't seemed to work either.
