  1. How does GameEx make the movies? Command line to MAME?
  2. These snaps are videos or pics? If videos, do you get the delay on both AVIs and MNGs? I'm asking b/c before the newer updates I had delays on my AVIs (Divx), but not on the MAME MNG movies (I'm not networked for these files, it just paused when displaying AVIs.) -Matthew
  3. Is there a way to just create a MAME video for one particular game? -Matthew
  4. I'd like to do this too...anyone know how?
  5. I looked in that registry file...what is SMExclusions? If all your videos are XVid, are you even using the DivX decoder? (My videos were downloaded from EmuMovies, which were in DivX, at least that's what GSpot told me.) Cool stuff
  6. Ya, my post was probably confusing. The first part was just how to make it work (i did in fact install a full version of DivX in addition to k-lite) The K-Lite part was just why I was doing it
  7. If anyone wants to use DivX to play their movies in GameEx, but needs to remove the tray icon you can get a program DivX wrote here: http://support.divx.com/cgi-bin/divx.cfg/p...hp?p_faqid=1630 Trouble is, it only works for version 6 of the player and hasn't been updated to 6.5 (the latest version) Looking through the forums, though, I found this post: http://forums.divx.com/forum/viewTopic.php?id=3015 That explains how to get it to work in 6.5. Guess what, worked like a charm I didn't want to use the old version of ffdshow because I had installed all my codecs using the K-Lite Mega Pack ( http://www.free-codecs.com/download/K_Lite..._Codec_Pack.htm ) which solved some problems I was having in Oblivion (PC Game) FYI, before installing the K-Lite pack, I recommend running the following: http://nightmare2013.brashendeavors.net/ This resets all your codecs to windows xp default. Don't worry it backs them up first, (I verified this.) After reseting back to default, I just installed the K-Lite pack and used the defaults for everything. Trouble was the DivX decoder had that darn icon and was minimizing my GameEx again. Hence the desire to find a solution for the DivX decoder, rather than bastardizing my K-Lite install. One other thing of note. Perhaps it's all the VM9 video enhancements Tom did, but my movies that were encoded with DivX now play MUCH better. They used to pause before starting, but now they start up just as fast as the *.mng videos! This was a real surprise. Now I can arrow up and down through the list and there is no stuttering whatsoever. Amazing how much tighter the whole application feels after this. Again, I'm not sure if it's that the DivX decoder is decoding them rather than FFDShow or if it's improvements to GameEx. I just know it runs perfectly now! Hope this helps somebody, Matthew
  8. Does anybody know why? It's tough running two year old software (especially when I have codec issues in other programs, but must use this old one for GameEx) -Matthew
  9. Thank you, that was exactly what I was looking for. I assumed somebody would have created the maps by now
  10. I have a set of Kawaks roms that I downloaded from pleasuredome. I think these use the same roms as MAME, but they are just listed by their ROM name. My understanding was there was information in the installation of GameEx that maps these names in MAME and other supported emulators (i'm assuming those *.mdb databases and MAP files.) Is there an easy way to do this for my Kawaks set? btw, I tried to search for Kawaks "MAP", but since map was under 4 letters it wasn't allowed. Thanks, Matthew
  11. If a theme is designed for 1024x768, will it generally look a bit weird in 1600x1200 (for instance)? I was running the NexGen theme and my titles were always missing some letters. I tried to go into the theme editor and adjust the theme to be 1600x1200, but couldn't figure out how to do it. There is a little green box that seems to indicate the resolution, but I couldn't figure out how to adjust it. Is this not possible? Thanks, Matthew
  12. Oh hehe...i meant do they usually lag behind the MAME release? On the website it listed they were on 0.111u something while MAME is on 0.112u2
  13. Does MAMEPlus! usually lag behind? I went to their website and they were still on 0.111. Having those filters looks nice, though. I always enable them in non-mame emulators.
  14. This is a good tip since I was trying to figure out why pacman was gone as well after filtering clones (faq material?)
  15. The version I saw listed here: http://members.home.nl/wdw/grid.html says it's time locked after 6 minutes...so......I get to play for 6 minutes?
  16. No, I just downloaded it, and was "wowing" at how good it was. =)
  17. Wow...grid wars 2....just wow
  18. I think those are DIP switches set on the original arcade game. So I think they handle options that could actually have been set in the real machine (ie, difficulty, etc.)
  19. Sure, Just select Game -> Configure Daphne Options -> Advanced Tab from DaphneLoader. There is a select box for "Display command line." When this is enabled before launching the game it will show you the command line options that were passed to daphne.exe
  20. Not to point out something terribly obvious, but you do have the fast boot option as a command line to dragon's lair in GameEx?
  21. Oh, I thought I was using the latest version of ChankEx and it seemed to be working fine with your wrapper. At least I know I was running 1600x1200 resolution which I thought was only supported in ChankEx. Thanks for the help!
  22. Hi Everyone, I've been messing with chankast, chankEx, and chankast Launch for a while tonight to get some dreamcast games going. Seems to be working great (thanks to all involved for this stuff!), except that I don't seem to get the cpu speed individual game overrides from the chankast_launch.ini. All the other settings seem to take fine. It seems to revert to whatever is listed in the chankast_alpha_25.ini. For example, below is "my" (actually just came with the ini file) Soul Calibur from chankast_launch.ini: [soul Calibur] CPU=120 ZWrite=False ZWriteAlpha=False CapcomHack=False CableType=NTSC SCalbrPlyrSelectHack=False SCalbr2DFix=True When running the game, all seems to work fine, but when I hit F12 to see stats it shows CPU:100 (or whatever was in my Chankast_alpha_25.ini) This wouldn't be too much of a problem, but I can clearly see a huge FPS difference in Soul Calibur at 120 vs 100 AND a huge difference in Street Fighter 3 Third Strike between 100 and 120 (surprisingly, SF3 ran perfect at 100, and really slow at 120) Just for giggles, here's my SF3: [street Fighter 3 Third Strike] CPU=100 ZWrite=True ZWriteAlpha=True CapcomHack=True These do match my *.cdi file names. I even cut and pasted them to make sure. I noticed that the Chankast_alpha_25.ini listed CPU speed as "nCpuSpeed", so I tried using that value in my chankast_launch.ini, but no luck I also tried just removing that line from the chankast_alpha_25.ini, but it always gets put back. I verified that this happens both from a command prompt and GameEx. (D:\Games\Emulators\Dreamcast\ChankEx>chankast_launch.exe x:\dreamcast\roms\Soul Calibur.cdi, for example) Thanks in advance for any help, Matthew
  23. Thanks! Worked like a charm. Appreciate the help. My Genesis Roms directory is much smaller and tidier now. -Matthew
  24. Hello! I recently downloaded GoodGen 3.0 from PleasureDome. How do I take this directory and make a GoodMerge from it? I downloaded the GoodMerge tools and I think I'm missing a "have.txt" file. I ran the GoodWindows front end for GoodTools and after scanning the rom directory it seems to know my "have" list, but I can't figure out if it generated a file somewhere or how to export it. Is there a place that simply has these have.txt files? Or am I misunderstanding the process in getting a GoodMerge version of the romset? Edit: Oops...just realized I called the post "GameMerge" instead of "GoodMerge" Thanks for the help! Matthew
