Count me in. I have built four cabs and the last two with lighted buttons. The enjoyment for me was learning new things along the way. I rarely play and when I do it is the basic old school tempest, asteroids, robotron games. My four year old son though loves it and enjoys playing the bowling games on it... and that is what makes it all worth while. Of course, anyone who has never seen one is just amazed beyond belief, also. Beyond the physical part of building the cabs, if it wasn't for GameEx, I think it would be all for naught. This is such a great piece of software and it just makes the whole experience pleasant. I haven't posted much in these forums but have been a member for a long time and would like to take this opportunity to thank every one here. This forum is a great contribution to the gaming community. There are so many knowledgeable and just outright great people here. Thank you to everyone!

Excellent addition! Thank you very much for this feature. I am looking forward to setting up my son's personal settings. He is going to love this new feature. Thanks again Tom for adding this feature. And a big thanks to Ben (Headkaze)!!!

Brian, I don't have the ability to test that GameEx install as my neighbor has moved away. But, he is using a different theme than I am. I think I remember which one it was so I will test further later tonight. After reading icee's post, it does seem like it is probably a particular theme issue, though. Thanks.

I had this problems on a friends GameEx setup. Unfortunately, I haven't taken the time to figure out why. Symptoms are: Mouse works in GameEx until you go into the mame list and then it stops working. Have to use the joystick to navigate. Settings in GameEx are correct. "No, I want to use the mouse". I haven't updated mine to the latest version to test if I would have the same issue. If I find out any more information, I will post back.

I am bumping this up as I am hoping Headkaze can shed some "light" on this issue. This issue is different than the previous thread located at: http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?sh...p;hl=led+plugin My issue is that the Esc/Pause buttons light up white instead of Red and Yellow after launching a game. I have them set to Red and Yellow in the GameEx and Mame defaults. And I read somewhere, and can no longer find it, that this plugin had the ability to make the lights dance to music. I can't find a setting for that in the plugin, though. Thanks!

Yes, the colors are in colors.ini. And that should override any of my default color settings. I would expect that behavior.... but looking in the colors.ini file, it only sets the coin, p1, p2 and whatever controls it is using. My Exit (esc), Pause buttons are being set to white when I start a game. The coin, p1 and p2 are being set to white also. Now most games in the colors.ini file set the coin and p1, p2 to white, so I really don't have an issue with that, but I would like the esc, pause buttons to stay the set colors I chose. I setup the Daphne and Pinball profiles in the default setting and it works throughout all those games. Just not in the Mame profile. Obviously, I think I have something set wrong. Also, how do you get the leds to dance to music? Should it just automatically work when music is played?

I see what the issue is now... I am scrolling through the game list in the LCD Plugin and it looks like you have to set the color of the buttons for each game? I am hoping there is an easier way to keep those buttons the color that I set in the default setting. Thanks.
-
The buttons that each game uses light up correctly. It is just the buttons that I have set for esc, pause, coin, p1 and p2 that are turning white instead of staying the fixed colors that I have them set too. Example: esc is set to red, pause is yellow, coin is green.

I have just completed my fourth cabinet for a friend and for this one I installed two ledwiz to control 21 buttons and a trackball. I have the ledwiz's configured through the led plugin included in Gamex. It works beautifully. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to make these systems. Now, my question is this: I have configured five of the buttons (esc, pause, coin, p1 and p2) to stay lit all the time along with being a certain color. It works fine until I start a mame game and then those buttons turn white. Do I have a setting configured wrong in the LED Plugin that is causing those buttons to turn white instead of staying at the set color? Thank you in advance for any suggestions. I will be posting pics in about two weeks of the completed cab.

I am finishing up a build for a friend and told him to purchase this particular computer. http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product.aspx?...〈=en-US It runs Carnevil at full frames. I haven't tried every intensive game yet, but it seems to work great. I installed Future Pinball and seems to run the tables good. Unfortunately, I am still using an old P4 and am crying that I need to give this one up. I have 64 bit Mame running on Vista and everything is running perfectly. Even Daphne games, not that they take much cpu. I believe you state that you have the LED's wired and they are working. And that you are doing this through a laptop. Try just plugging in the mini-pac without the LED's plugged in. And plug the mini-pac into the usb you plugged the LED's into. Since that usb worked for the leds. I suspect you either have a bad usb port or just have too much plugged into the usbs and it can't power them all. If so, you can get a powered usb hub and that should solve your issues.

I noticed this too. Thanks for finding the issue. It was driving me a little crazy.

Found the issue. I had dynamic data loading checked. Unchecking that made the preview list work again. I am not sure of why that would make it not show the preview list though. Thanks for your reply headkaze.

I have just made up my control panel layout and was going to preview it. I clicked on preview and it does not show any roms anymore and I am receiving this in the cpwizard error log. This was working at one point. All my paths are correct to the roms, etc. Does anyone have any idea what could be the issue? 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: CPWizard v1.78 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: OS: Microsoft Windows XP Professional 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: Version: 5.1.2600 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: Build: 2600 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: RAM Total: 1015 MB 6/28/2008 8:51:42 AM: RAM Used: 324 MB 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: CPU: Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.66GHz 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: Video Card: Intel(R) 82845G/GL/GE/PE/GV Graphics Controller 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: Video Driver: 6.14.10.4342 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: Video RAM: 64 MB 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: Sound Card: SoundMAX Integrated Digital Audio 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: .NET: .NET Framework 1.1 Installed 6/28/2008 8:51:43 AM: .NET: .NET Framework 2.0 Installed 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing InterComm Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Cmd Line Watcher 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Starting InterComm Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Display Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Program Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Reading Config 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Main Menu 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Layout Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Game Info 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing History Dat 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing MameInfo Dat 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Command Dat 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Story Dat 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Artwork Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Manuals 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Emulator Manuals 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Emulator OpCard 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing NFO Viewer 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing IRC 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing SendKeys 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Interop 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Emulator Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Keyboard Hook 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Direct Input 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing MCE Remote 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Input Manager 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Profiles 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Bezel 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Reading Mame Data 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Mame Version 0.125u4 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mini Info Xml 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Ini 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Reading Mame Ini 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Cfg 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Initializing Mame Command Line 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Creating MainBitmap 6/28/2008 8:51:44 AM: Starting Mame Interop 6/28/2008 8:52:02 AM: ERROR @ PreviewForm_Load (frmPreview) 6/28/2008 8:52:02 AM: InvalidArgument=Value of '0' is not valid for 'itemIndex'. I just found this: (off topic) http://www.bmigaming.com/ultrapin.htm Makes me want to cry.... I could totally build this but don't have around $3000 grand laying around. One day.....
-
i had this same issue and it was caused by having a usb gamepad plugged in when I started the computer. It was forcing my trackball to be mouse 3 instead of mouse 1 when the gamepad was plugged in. You might want to see if this is the same issue you have. In any mame game that uses a trackball hit tab and change the analog input for your trackball. You can just hit enter and move the trackball and it will show you what mouse input it thinks it is. Good luck.

Finally had the time to install this on my cab with the Wells Gardner monitor at 800x600. It rules! Thank you for taking the time to create such an awesome theme. I haven't found any issues with theme at this resolution.
-
That is so cool. I see the download say 1024x768. Is the 800x600 still in the works? Excellent looking theme!
-
This theme looks awesome and I would love to test it but I only have 800x600 at the most on my 27" Wells Gardner. I hope you are still planning to port it down to this resolution. I would try to do it but know next to nothing about making a theme. Excellent work!

Katuuuz, I know you shouldn't need to install a mouse driver for the optipac to work but go this page and select http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/downloads/default.mspx (1) mouse (2) Basic Optical Mouse (3) Your OS (4) Your Language Remove the mouse drivers that you currently have in your Device Manager and install this set of drivers. I had to do this on an older system of mine when I purchased the USB version of the optipac to replace my older serial version. This may solve your problem if everything is wired correctly. Good luck!
-
Katuuuz We'll help you get this working, can you take another pic of the board installed? It would really help. I have one so, I can probably walk you through if I see how you have it wired up.
-
I have the mag-stik from ultimarc. They are the 4-8 way joysticks that you pull up on and turn to change between the 4 and 8 way settings. No going into the control panel anymore. It has a really short throw though. I actually like it better after using them for a while.
-
katuuuz, I see that you have the serial/usb version. Use the USB if at all possible. I had an older serial only version and it wouldn't allow me to play any of the bowling or shuffle board games. I purchased the USB version and all the problems went away. I never tested if the serial on the new board did the same thing as the old board though. Good luck.

Hey everyone, My gameex server's drive recently went kaput and while I had most every backed up, I can't for the life of me find a backup of my intro videos for all the Daphne related games. If some could point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. Thanks
-
Thanks Tom. I thought I was loopy. My mame hard drive died recently and after I rebuilt everything I downloaded the latest version of gameex and rebuilt my list. And for the life of me couldn't figure out why marvel vs capcom wouldn't show along with a reduced list. Driving me nuts for a while. No biggy, just glad it will be fixed. Take care.
