  1. Was this ever resolved? I am having the same issue with the black screen and trying to load ePSXe.
  2. I have Grid Wars2 setup on my gameex cabinet, and it seems to be working just fine. I also have mapkeys set you 'yes'. So it is possible. As for what could be causing problems... is this set up as an external application? That's how I did it I think.
  3. I removed the keyboard from the passthrough of the IPAC. It works! Wow, what a simple solution. Thanks Ling.
  4. enabling/disabling ipac support does nothing. I also tried telling game ex that I have the absolute shittiest computer in the world, and lower resources used... still nothing. It has to be a setting in XP that's screwing things up.
  5. Yeah, tried that too. I also tried enabling/disabling the USB keyboard option in my BIOS. No such luck.
  6. I tried to enable direct input, but it was already enabled. I tried messing with my keyboard settings, no luck. I defragged, disabled system restore, everything I could think of. any more ideas?
  7. I'm no pro, but to me it looks as if no errors occured. Maybe the hard drive in which the ROMs are stored is compressed? I've heard stories where compression can be screwy with games, making them only partially work. Also, try this. It may sound kind of funny, but when you're in Game Ex... mash the buttons as if you would in a game. If it exits, that means that some combination of buttons is mapped to the 'Esc' key. PS - I'm still a n00b, but thought I might be of some help
  8. I will test this out tomorrow when I'm no longer with my parents for the holidays, and have access to the cabinet. Hopefully this will solve the problem before my new year's party Also, I have already contacted Andy at Ultimarc, and he had this to say: Justin, The I-PAC should never delay in this way. But I have heard from other people who have seen this problem when using Game-Ex. The best way forward would be this: download the keyboard test prog from www.passmark.com. Install this and run a test, mashing the buttons in the same way as a game, and see if any delays or stuck keys etc result. This will prove that the wiring and I-PAC are OK and you might need to look elsewhere. I will raise this subject with the developer of Game-Ex as well. It might also be worth checking and/or posting a message on the Game-Ex message board to see if anyone else has this problem and has found a solution. Regards Andy In response to Deadly, yes it only happens while running Mame through game ex, not mame itself.
  9. Yes, I have seen that thread. I've tried clearing my pagefile, I have set up windows so that it is cleared everytime it is shut down. Still no luck.
  10. I've had some annoying problems the past few weeks in Mame with my IPAC. I have two players, each with 6 buttons. Through MAME itself, I have no issues with ghosting. Even through Game Ex I don't seem to have any problems until extreme button mashing/two player action ensues. Once the ghosting occurs, the game becomes unplayable. It will go away if you leave the controls alone for a few seconds, but it's very annoying and it will come back as well. I'm using mame 1.09 and the most current version of Game Ex. I've searched the forums/FAQ, found something about a pagefile? To no avail, it did not work. My cabinet has 512MB RAM, a 9600SE, and an Athlon XP 2100+ processor. To my knowledge, this should be plenty of power to run the MAME games. Any input/ideas would be much appreciated.
  11. 720x480 WORKS weird how the other resolutions don't work. I guess PAL doesn't work, a good thing to know.
  12. Update: I just ripped a wmv file that I managed to get to work in Game Ex. The codec is the exact same as the files that I can't seem to get working, the only difference is that I set the resolution of the file to 1280x800(laptop res). Why is it that this high res file will play, but my 720x576 files will not play. (I'm getting somewhere)
  13. I have just concluded testing with the WMV3x, WMV2x, and WMV1x codecs. None of which work. weird.
  14. I'm not quite sure how to determine the version of WMV, but I can tell you that they are 720x576 resolution, with a data rate of 1200kbps, 24bit video sample size, and have a stream name of "video 1"? I'm not quite sure what all of that means, but I can also tell you that I rip the DVD with a WMV3x codec. I hope some of that information helps determine the problem.
  15. video have no protection, and work fine in media player... I was under the impression that Game Ex uses media player to play its files? Maybe not, but is there a way to make this so? So that I can actually view these files? Maybe that's a better question to get these files working.
