Problem fixed. XP, and likewise, Gameex, were running at 32bit color depth. FCEU was running at 16bit. When I loaded the game, the resolution stayed the same, but the depth switch caused the flickering. I have no idea why, but upon changing FCEU to 32bit color, I am now able to exit games and then return to them without any trouble. Also, no flicker. Neither Zsnes or Gens have been causing me problems, but both still have the flicker. If they cause me problems in the future, at least now I'll have a starting point at which to check. Thanks to everyone for the help.

I'll switch to nestopia, try it, and let you know.

Here's the log file you requested. Hope it makes more sense to you than it does to me. In this instance, I started contra, played for a second or two. quit. tried to start it again, but it wouldn't load. I then selected a sega game which also wouldn't load. I know the paths are correct, because gameex will boot these same games the first time I select them every time. It's when I exit out and return they won't load. Also, this only happens when I have the comp hooked up to my tv. Since it's running in a cab, this is important to me. It seems like it may have trouble switching resolutions or something (flickers and then goes black, then returns to gameex) Thanks again, 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: GameEx: Version 7.09: Starting Log 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: Operating System Platform: Win32NT 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: Operating System Name: Windows XP 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: Operating System Version: 5.1.2600 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: Checking for versions of .net Framework installed 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: .net Framework 1.1 Installed 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: .net Framework 2.0 Installed 01:00:58.4 12/15/2006: Intel® Pentium® 4 CPU 2.00GHz 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: 2Ghz 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Running Randomize() 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Loading PlugIns 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Checking for applications to Launch On Startup 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Initialising Video/MNG DLL's 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Running Misc startup tasks 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Setting Menu types 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Opening Configuration File 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Getting Configuration Values 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Using Theme: Default - GameEx - Animated 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Checking for alternate Image Directory for Theme: Default - GameEx - Animated 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Using Images from theme: Default - GameEx\MEDIA\ 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Launching HideOS.exe 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Hiding Taskbar 01:00:58.5 12/15/2006: Is Media Center running? Hi all, thanks in advance. Registered version of gameex. Win XP sp2 up to date patch-wise. Any time I open an emulator other than mame32, game ex will switch resolutions and go to it fine. When I exit the game, gameex returns as it should. When I try to play a second game, however, either in the same emulator or in another, Gameex goes to a black screen, flickers a few times, and then returns to gameex window. If I shut down gameex and reopen it, I still cannot open a game. Essentially, I am limited to opening one game through gameex before I have to reboot. I'm using an Nvidea graphics card hooked up to a television. When I have the computer hooked up to a regular monitor, this problem ceases. Has anyone had a similar problem? And if so, any solutions or ideas on where to start? I would hate to have to return to mamewah simply due to this reason (especially after paying the fee). Thanks again.

First off, great software. I played with it for two days and immediately converted from mamewah. All questions pertain to the registered version of gameex. 1. I have a "create snaps" button in all of my emulators except for mame. Is this a separate setting than the other emulators, and if so, would someone please direct me? I would like to create video snaps for the mame games similar to how gameex allows with other emulators. I have searched the config files and haven't found any specific settings for mame. I'm using the most recent build of gameex and mame32. 2. My most played list on the opening screen refuses to display anything. I have played numerous games, and the five most played games appear at the top of each emulator's respective game list, but the actual most played list remains empty. Very frustrating. Any advice on what files to check or configure for this feature would be most helpful. 3. When creating video snaps for my emulators, the colors invert for the fceu nintendo emulator. The Zsnes and Genesis video snaps are perfect. I am using the codec tspiers suggested on this forum (the daily build of some ff... can't recall the exact name). Should I try another codec, and if so, does anyone have recommendations, or should I switch emulators, and if so, to which one? Thank you in advance for any feedback. I will supply any system information necessary, but unfortunately don't know what to provide at the present time to even get started.
