  1. Old topic, but I'm upgrading my cab computer and starting from scratch. The UAC prompt was annoying me, so I found this solution that works well. http://lifehacker.com/how-to-eliminate-uac-prompts-for-specific-applications-493128966 From the link: The process is a little tedious, but easy enough if you're familiar with Task Scheduler: In Task Scheduler, right-click "Task Scheduler Library" and select "New Folder" Name it whatever you would like. Select the new folder and click "Create Task" (not "Create Basic Task") Name the task something descriptive. Enable "Run with highest privileges," and select your OS under "Configure for." Under the Actions tab, select "Start a program" in the Action dropdown if it isn't already. Click Browse and find your app's .exe file (usually under Program Files on your C: drive). (Laptops) Under Conditions tab, deselect "Start the task only if the computer is on AC power." On your desktop, right click and select New > Shortcut. Paste 'C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /RUN /TN "Name of folder\Name of task" into the text box. This will create a link to your program that will automatically skip the prompt asking for permission to make changes to your computer. The app's icon won't transfer over, but this can be easily fixed.
  2. Hi Tom, I asked this earlier, but didn't get a response. Might have gotten missed with the vast update that you have been doing as of late. Anyway, I was wondering if you could add the ability in custominput.ini to put in multiple scan codes for each action. For example: "Select=2, 42" This would be helpful for me because I have an ergonomic setup for what key does what, but my wife would like to use the buttons more intuitively, i.e. the start button being select. If multiple scan codes were enabled, then we could both use it how we want. Thanks!

  4. Hey Tom, I've been out of the hobby for a while and now that I'm back I of course updated to the latest GameEx, 4.73. The problem I'm having is that when I run a MAME game, it comes up, but after a couple of seconds, GameEx steals back focus and the only way to play the game is to exit GameEx. Once GameEx exits and the MAME game is in focus I can play normally. Just, when I exit, of course I'm back to a windows screen because GameEx is closed. Also, I have the crashtest avi files playing for the MAME games, and the sound doesn't seem to stop when the MAME game is launched. Is there a way to minimize GameEx on launch? I seem to remember this option, but cannot find it now. I have Windows XP Pro running, and I have never had any problems running GameEx in the past. I did see that focus issues were a problem around version 4.58-4.61, but you fixed them, so I don't know if this is a relapse of the same problem or a new problem. If I can provide any more info that would be helpful to you for fixing this issue, please ask. Thanks, Surge

    Daphne

Hey Tom, This might be better suited in the request forum, but since this is Daphne stuff: Mamu just released icons that include the Daphne Icons. Any chance to incorporate these? Thanks, Surge
  7. Tom, I downloaded Crashtest's videos quite a while ago and now I would like to download them for a friend, but I can't remember the bittorent filename/url for them. Do you (or anyone else) remember/know the bittorent filename? Thanks, Surge *EDIT* Sorry that I'm an idiot. I found the link right where it should be on the links page. THANKS
  8. Hey Tom, How about an option to make games starting with "The" like "The Simpsons" be displayed in the game list as "Simpsons, The". If it was an option then everyone could choose which way they would like to display their game list. It's obviously not a big deal (probably is to program it), but sometimes I go to "Simpsons" and have to take a whole extra second of my time after I remember that it is filed under "The Simpsons". That extra second is valuable time I will never get back! Oh, btw. Thanks for fixing the save state so that I can put the "accessory" files in a different folder! I really appreciate everything you do for this frontend. Keep up the amazing work!
  9. Tom, I agree with the comment elsewhere on the boards. The configuration program needs to be overhauled so that things are in a more structured order. Emph, This ability is in the configuration program already. Can't remember the option at the moment, but you can make GameEx just display the name without the extra version numbers at the end. *Edit* Emph, There is an option called "bracketed text". That is what you want to change.

    Command.dat

If you mean "where should I put the button that will get to this information" then why not just under "Play the Game". That seems like the most logical place, to me anyway. You could even integrate the controls.ini file with it so you could have a "picture" of the controls for the game and then have game moves with it. Just a thought. Keep up the EXCELLENT work!
  11. Hey Tom, Just a very minor thing: I wanted to put all these files in a different directory besides gameex\data. When I change the directory and press save, it closes the window fine, but then I go back into the window and it doesn't actually save the change, back at gameex\data. The save button just doesn't seem to do anything for these files. Thanks. I LOVE THIS PROGRAM!!!!!!!!!!!
