  1. I figured out the problem. I ended up running checkdsk and figured out that my hard drive had some bad sectors, which included my old GameEx config. That kept it from fully deleting and from allowing an update. Checkdsk was able to repair the sectors well enough for me to fully delete my old config and now GameEx installs and runs no problem. I'm going to go ahead and replace my current hard drive and swap it out for a new one since I don't want to put in all the time to configure GameEx to work with my arcade again only to run into more issues with this old hard drive. Thanks for the quick responses though. You guys were right that it ultimately was a problem with my PC.
  2. Yeah. I did an uninstall through Add/Remove Programs, manually deleted any GameEx folders that I saw and even ran a registry cleaner in the hopes of cleaning up any straggler folders or files. I've disabled all the security programs to try and get through the installation, but no luck so far. It does allow me to continue the installation past the error by ignoring but that doesn't seem like a good idea since I could end up with a messed up ini file.
  3. Hello, I have had trouble trying to get a fresh install of GameEx to work. I keep getting an error message during the installation that says "error creating INI entry in file C:\GameEx\Config\GameEx.ini." This is with the latest version of GameEx. I did previously have GameEx installed and configured on this PC, but after having some issues being able to open the program and being unable to upgrade it I deleted it in the hopes that I could just start over with a clean slate, but unfortunately I can't get past this error. I tried disabling Windows Security Essentials because I noticed that it was identifying one of the installation files as a threat, but even after turning that off I still get the error message. Any help getting past this error would greatly be appreciated. I just recently got my arcade back out of storage after a couple years of not having room for it and I'm excited to get it back running in my new house. Thanks.

    Gens Plus Question

I had a quick question that I was hoping one of the geniuses on here would be able to answer for me. I have run into an issue running mulitplayer roms on Gens Plus where if two people are playing at the same time they tend to accidentally activate the game genie keyboard shortcut (ctrl + G) which pauses the game and pulls up the game genie menu. I have ctrl mapped to the first button for player on one my cab and G is mapped to the second joystick to the right. Does anyone know of a way for me to deactivate keyboard shortcuts on that emulator or to disable game genie completely. I have not been able to find one myself but figured I would see if anyone else has run into this issue before. I could remap the buttons for that emulator to just use the bottom row of buttons for player one and thus avoid the control button but I am hoping to avoid that. Thanks for your help.

    GameEx Loading Issue

Lol, yeah I totally selected it for attachement but forget to hit the attach this file button. Here it is. log2.txt
  6. Lately, any time Game Ex updates it gets rid of all of my configuration settings. I had update disabled because of this and somehow it managed to dump my config again anyway. I was able to switch my config back using the upgrade backup file. Unfortunately, now GameEx sticks at the login screen. I have attached my log file. If any one can help with this it would be greatly appreciated.
  7. Hey guys, I could use a little help. For some reason the last time gameex updated for me it caused a problem and I had to revert to my backup config. That fixed everything except that I didn't disable updates after that. I assumed that I must have just had a bad download. The latest update made gameex freeze at the loading screen, so I went ahead and did a system restore to an older date and now I get an error code going into Gameex. I have attached my log in the hopes that someone can sort it out for me. It seems to get stuck at some system database. Any advice on how to proceed would be greatly appreciated. log.txt
  8. Renamed the backup file like you guys suggested and it's back in action. It must have been an update that somehow messed up my config. Definitely appreciate the help. I probably would have reprogrammed my entire configuration without checking for a backup config file. Always impressed by the gameex community.
  9. I have a crazy question. When I left for work my cabinet was on and working fine. When I came home I noticed that the theme was switched to the default theme and my arcade controls were no longer working as they had been. I was able to switch back to the theme I had been using from the theme picker using my mouse. I then noticed that all of my roms and emulators and jukebox are no longer showing up within the GameEx menu. So I went to the old GameEx configuration menu and realized that all of my settings for MAME, GameEx and all of my emulators was no longer showing up. They weren't even reset to default. They just showed up as unselected menu options for the entire gameex configuration. So then I tried to go to the GameEx Setup wizard and it says that "an error has occurred could not find" a particular file. It's hard to read because the text is very small on the TV that I use for my arcade monitor. I will hook the PC back up to a monitor soon to find out what the exact file that's missing could be. But my question is what could possibly have caused this to happen? Other than the small chance that my wife messed with the arcade while I was at work I can't think of anything that could have caused this. I know how to reprogram all of my GameEx settings (a task I am seriously dreading having to repeat) but I need to figure out how to prevent this from happening again before I go through all the trouble of setting it back up. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I will post the full error message soon but was wondering if anyone else had experienced anything similar and might have an idea.
  10. I just had a quick question. After my screensaver has been on for a little while it obviously times out for a minute and goes back to the start screen. When it does this it makes three beeping (I guess that it is how to describe it) sounds when it times out. These are rather loud and kind of annoying since I generally leave my cab on all the time. Is there any way to keep that sound from happening or to turn the volume off for that sound. Not sure if this exists but figured I would ask since my wife keeps complaining about it. Thanks.
  11. Yeah I can go ahead and give MESS a try. The other Atari emulators I was using have been difficult configuring controls for as well so it's probably better just to switch to MESS and see if that solves the problem. Thanks for your help anyway.
  12. My exe is in the same folder that my working path points to. The only thing in that folder is the exe, config file, some text files, a DAT file, a couple of ROM files and a couple of a7800 zip files. I attached an image of my folder so you can get a better look at what I have in it. Any of those seem like they shouldn't be there?
  13. I changed the control panel path to blank and the advanced emulator config to blank and still no dice. Here is my updated ini file. 14. Here is my ini file. I tried to attach it but it said that I wasn't allowed to attach this type of file. I tried changing the control panel path to the folder that has the emulator in it and the configuration file but that did not change anything.
  15. I am trying to map the controls of the ProSystem (Atari 7800) emulator to work with my control panel. I have it mapped to work correctly when I play directly from the Prosystem exe but when I try to play it from Gameex, the rom and emulator load but the controls don't stay mapped correctly for me to use the control panel. Any ideas on why the input configuration doesn't stay the same from the exe to gameex would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
