I started to post on my HTPC because that is where the log file is. I took the last several suggestions from you and we1 and it now works. I changed the path after no gui, loanbin to ROMPATH/ROM etc. Then I enabled sub folder search; I also have Virtual Clone on my HTPC so I pointed it to the Daemon mounting exe and now the games I have tried work. All my games are listed but so are the smaller flies I guess I need to use the filter? Thanks for the help.

Thanks Red, that is how I had it setup. Under "Working Path", I pointed it to the emulation folder inside GameEX where I have epsxe installed (C:\GameEX\Emulation\epsxe\epsxe.exe) and working (works outside of GameEX). Iso files are located on a flash drive (and my server as well). Again that is where I pointed "Rom Path" (F:\Console Games\Sony Playstation) each game has it's own folder. It is also enabled. When I exit setup, it doesn't appear in the GameEX emulator menu. I got Rom Collector Browser to work, it works the same way, point it where the emu is, where the games are, put in -nogui in command line and it works. The reason why I want to use GameEX is because the way Kodi works (though it might have changed, I haven't tried it) it won't load iso/bin files from my server, only from local drives. There is much more space on my server than on my HTPC, especially my newly rebuilt HTPC which got much smaller (Mini ITX) than before and eventually I will have a bunch of PSX games and other game images soon so I don't wanna buy another 1/2TB portable drive just to house games when my server has 8TB. I will upload the txt and ini files later today.

djfourmoney started following [RESOLVED] Game EX doesn't launch and Don't know how to setup epsxe in GameEX
-
I thought this would be simple but this is try #3 to get GameEX to be my media solution, though I have gone back to Kodi for everything but YouTube (PS3). When I go to verify the emulator is working, it says "No path found" , etc, etc. I thought I understood how to set this up but I guess I don't. Any help is appreciated as I am seriously considering Big Box which is the HTPC version of Launchbox and since I have to pay for that it's either pay for GameEX or pay for Big Box. Thanks

I spoke too soon, it does fire up. I am setting up the emulators now thanks.

Rereading my post was interesting, I was in the middle of a life reboot and had lots of free time. Well I have much less free time these days and I thought I could simply upgrade the memory and SSD of the HTPC. That failed miserably ending up with a new motherboard, PSU and processor. Lucky for me AMD's affordable Kabini series of APU's and motherboards had come on the market. After dealing with hardware that didn't work, I finally have a working Mini-ITX HTPC. Since I am starting from scratch I really do want to make the changes I've been contemplating for years. Of course XBMC has become Kodi but many of the same problems I had remain. I've since given up on viewing You Tube via Kodi and use my PS3 exclusively for that. I've also added a Cable Card Tuner to my HTPC and that brought some issues with missing recordings. We'll see if the fresh build and install of Windows 7 fixes that. So its back to considering Game EX as the front end for my archived media and console emulation. When I tried it before, folders ended up everywhere on my boot drive which at the time was a 64 GB SSD. So to prevent that this time, I found a good installation walkthrough on You Tube by Simply Austin. I wanted to start a new thread to chronicle how I'm getting on with and ask any questions I made have during setup.

After reading about various front ends that work on the Raspberry Pi and how seemingly simple it is to build a tiny console emulation machine, I thought I would finally give Game EX a shot. It installed simple enough, but when I tried to configure the emulators, there is no Emulation config routine and no link to start it inside the Configuration folder. I also seem to have the same problem I had with Advanced Launcher in XBMC; my roms/iso are located on my WHS 2011 box. When I thought I had GMEX setup and installed, I would go into the emulator menu and it wouldn't see anything but unemc under ePSX and nothing at all under Nestopia or SNESx9. When I attempted to uninstall, it would without issue, but obvious some files are left behind because when I re-installed it, my login information for EMU Movies keep showing up. Also other changes, I had made to GMEX stayed. Where are these files so I can remove them? Unless these issues can be solved, I only have a few choices - Don't muck with my HTPC anymore, which would be fine, I am behind on getting My Movies configured, finishing file mergers/editing with some files, along with assigning other task to the server (SABnzbd, Couch Potato, Headphones, etc). Wait for Retro Arch for XBMC to come out of beta Flash my Super Slim PS3 for Retro Arch Build a Raspberry Pi..... Buy a Ouya This just seem ridiculous to me. For about $60 I could build a Raspberry Pi, use Retropie and be done with it. However I wanted to keep cutting down on boxes, not increasing how many boxes I got. With Directv adding services like YouTube to their DVR's, there are fewer and fewer reasons to keep working with the HTPC if the basic functions are not much beyond a run of the mill, mass use DVR. In fact, my entire video experience can be boiled down to a HD-DVR and XBMC/Retro Pie build. The HTPC could be repurposed into a standard desktop. Since I would have to spend $135 plus the price of a HD-DVR (might be able to get that outta DTV for free but that's for another post), maybe that money is better spent simplifying my experience a bit. All this because I can't simply fire up any front end and play a PS1 game without getting up out of my seat... Advanced Launcher does work if all the files are local, it seems GMEX is setup the same way. I don't have the room on the HTPC to save all my roms/iso/bin files and yes I know I can get a TB for about $60 or 3TB for about $100. I just don't have it to spend right now and it would take roughly 3 months to earn enough Shopkick points to get one from either Targ'et or Best Buy. Don't laugh I earned enough points to pay for the hybrid 1TB drive that lives in the laptop I am typing on, net cost was $22. Can I get GMEX to behave like it should?

Well that makes sense, but GameEX claims to be a HTPC solution. I know its history as a Mame/Emulator plug-in for Windows Media Center that has evolved into adding multimedia features while still keeping its emulator core. As I said, all the emulator options with XBMC don't function well with Windows file system in that I can't share files from a remote PC/Server for game files. I will use GameEX, I just wanted to know if there was any value in using it for my other media functions. I may test My Movies because I have a feeling it would see all my files that are named properly that for some reason XBMC doesn't wanna see no matter how many times, I flush/reset the library.

I used The Renamer to put the file names in the right order. XBMC doesn't see some of the files, I do not know what would cause this. I used The Renamer for all the files I added to the server. I can only assume its a issue with the way XBMC sees Windows networking or something. All my Capt Scarlet's got messed up as well, again used Renamer for all of them. One would think the player in XBMC would default to English but it doesn't. VLC does however. I can load all the files into that and they all playback in English but without setting up XBMC to use an external player, my only other option is to strip out the Japanese audio by Demuxing but its the only set of files I have a problem with. There's a few other ways but we'll see what I decide. Renaming files and Remuxing files is time consuming and I tend to do them with my laptop. I am not adding enough content to use Renamer to automatically monitor folders, since most files are miss-named anyway. I am of course talking about downloaded content which is not done in SxSEx format but uses file names. I am logged into You Tube, that's how I access my subscribed channels. I can watch anything else in Magna's channel but Dirty Pair and Dirty Pair Flash, I haven't tried any other mature content. If I go to the HTML site or Leanback, it works, sort of strange. Yeah I agree, I am not trying to re-invent the wheel, XBMC does work well. I am Frodo by the way not Eden. Some of the add-ons are broken now, like Internet Archive. Its not officially broken but when I try to watch a video, it freezes the video but plays the audio from it. I have to exit XBMC and restart it to get it back to normal. ESPN3 by far is the biggest concern because that's how I watch the American Le Mans Series. But I can get that through Playon, for a one-time cost use on the standard media center strip. I know the newest build of XBMC support tuners but not my Cat's Eye which is no longer made or updated and no Linux drivers. Plus if its not broke, why fix it? WMC as a DVR isn't broken... Its just not as pretty as XBMC though My Movies and My TV access the same fan art and information from TVDB and IMDB. Thanks for the input.

I wanted to bump this because this is very much a Media Center issue as it is a emulator issue. I may move over to My Movies and My Movies for Windows Home Server (2011 in this case) since it pretty much the same but with matching WMC themes/graphics/menus. As I said I am interested in GameEX for emulator use, maybe PlayOn/TubeCore for You Tube. All these things cost money and I am on a limited budget but I would like some input, are you all really saying you only use GameEX just for gaming and nothing else????
-
Okay, I really like XBMC but a few things cropped up that bug me Some of my TV Show episodes don't show up despite having the same naming structure the other files have. It also messed up the order of episodes so now TVDB sees one thing but the actuall file is something else.MKV's don't default to the language of the machine, so Gundam Wing plays in Japanese and not EnglishAdvance Launcher doesn't work properly and Rom Collector doesn't either. Neither play PSX iso files from my server they have to be locally on the machine XBMC is one.The XBMC You Tube app doesn't allow for Mature Content, IE: I can't watch Dirty Pair, it says "URL not located". If I use You Tube Leanback in Chrome, it appears no problem and I can watch anything I wantI became interested in GameEX awhile back, but decided to try Media Browser since it supported the eye candy for TV series and Movies I wanted and there was a nice emulator plug-in for it. Of course to get the advanced features in MB you now have to pay for it. I am fine with that, but being unemployed and with no income at the time, I decided to give XBMC a try and have used it since. I want to finish my media project as I really don't want to tweak it any more I just want to enjoy it. So I was considering installed Game EX for emulators only since it creates a Windows Media Center plug-in but the problems with XBMC have lead me to possibly using Game EX exclusively for my TV series, Movies and Emulated games, while WMC does all the DVR work. What I wanted to know is - Does all the fan art and other information from TVDB show up inside Game EX? Does Game EX support IMDB and other databases for cover art, fan art and the like? Does the You Tube app support Mature Content? I already have Hulu Desktop with Integration support with an icon for WMC If you have any screen caps please share, thanks!
