Found why no emulators would run bug with GameExtender?
ShankyMcStabber replied to ShankyMcStabber's topic in General
Any chance the update that was just released (14.02) fixes this particular problem I was having? -
I have been running the latest version of HyperLaunch. The 2 big offenders for me were Project64 and Dolphin. Those 2 systems seemed to cause the HyperLaunch script to not exit about 1 in 6 times (forcing the thread to be terminated in order to launch a new game). I am tempted to use HyperLaunch to handle the systems I have in GameEx with multiple discs because HyperLaunch has much simplier support for Disc Switching.
-
Let me know if you have any issues with HyperLaunch rarely not correctly shutting down after you exit an emulator. It didn't happen often to me but it was often enough convinced me to migrate me completed Hyperspin setup over to GameEx (the unfixed bugs were the remaining reason I decided to switch).

Found why no emulators would run bug with GameExtender?

Actually I just figured out the EXACT setting causing the problem for me. I literally made a new install with all defaults, setup MAME, setup Atari 2600, enable GameExtender and then made sure it worked when running Stella. Once I had the baseline I loaded the Setup Wizard and set configured 1 page at a time to match the install that won't work with GameExtender enabled. Once I got to the Enable/Disable Features page I managed to break the launching of non-MAME emulators with GameExtender enabled by changing "Show Game Information" from Yes to No. Set that back to yes and it works again. Went back to the non-working install and set "Show Game Information" from No to Yes and I can launch my non-MAME emulators with GameExtender enabled. I've attached the GameEx.ini with that setting set to No (so it is in a fail state). You should be able to set it to Yes and cause it to function correctly. (Can you tell I do System Engineering for a living and my Engineer OCD wouldn't let me not troubleshoot this) GameEx.ini -

Is there any chance I can get a link to GameEx 13.32? I want to test if I have the same problem with the earlier version as I have on 2 different computers with GameEx 14. -

I also just tested GameEx with GameExtender on a different computer and I can reproduce the issue on it as well. For some reason when I enable GameExtender on a brand new install of GameEx 14 when I try to launch custom emulators nothing happens. Found why no emulators would run bug with GameExtender?
ShankyMcStabber replied to ShankyMcStabber's topic in General
I have been doing some troubleshooting and so far I have figured out that the viewer isn't the issue. I can run the viewer with the server component not enabled and everything works fine (except the viewer has nothing to connect to). If I run the server with or without the viewer none of my custom emulators even attempt to launch (no runitgame.bat generated, no attempt to run in the log, literally it doesn't even try to run anything). -

Sure thing, I've attached the logs where I perform the following steps. Enable GameExtender in the Setup Wizard Launch GameEx Navigate to my Atari 2600 menu Launch Adventure Wait until it is clear it doesn't load Hit ESC Navigate to Exit GameEx As you will see in the log.txt GameEx does not even attempt to launch the Stella emulator though if I turn off GameExtender Stella will launch fine. log.txt GameEx.ini Extenderlog.txt -

For now I will just keep GameExtender off, but I would love it if I could run down why it is causing my issue. -

No AV software (this is my dedicated cab) -
This is a follow up to my resolved issue from earlier. So after blasting away my install and reinstalling I found all my emulators worked and I went about setting a bunch of them up. Somewhere along the way I turned GameExtender on and suddenly none of the custom emulators worked. Turn GameExtender off, they work. So far I have tested GameExtender on/off a few times (both with the GameExtender Viewer enabled on a second monitor and not) and each time I enable GameExtender none of the custom emulators will even attempt to launch. I have also tried running GameEx in Administrator mode and GameExtender set to launch as Administrator. Each time my custom emulators stop. Could this be a bug with GameEx or GameExtender?

[RESOLVED] No custom emulators will run
ShankyMcStabber replied to ShankyMcStabber's topic in General
Okay, after blasting away everything GameEx related and reinstalling I can now get the emulators to run. As for wiping out my all my Art/Media from Hyperspin, I'll think I pass on that one. I have done a lot of manual work gathering the video and artwork snaps that were missing from Emumovies.com and I would hate for it to go poof (yes, I have a lifetime membership). -

I can run them outside of Gameex. I actually have a fully functioning Hyperspin setup on the same system but have been getting a wee bit tired of a bunch of minor hyperlaunch issues, so I know the emulators will also launch from within Hyperspin. Gameex is installed to D:\Gameex and my emulators are installed in D:\Emulators\<systemname>\<emulatorname>\ To make sure my Hyperspin setup is not adversely impacted I have a duplicate emulator tree located in D:\Hyperspin\Emulators\<systemname>\<emulatorname>\ (I have tried pointing GameEx at the emulators in both locations, same issues). I have treid running Gameex as Administrator (with the Elevated Prompts off) and I have tried it without being Administrator. I just now totally uninstalled Gameex, pulled every instance of Gameex out of the registry and file system, and reinstalled GameEx. I am now configuring an emulator to see if the problem was a corrupted install. -

Wiped it out twice and re-created it. That is the correct roms folder as I have all my roms in a single folder structure based on system. None of the roms are ziped or 7z. Would GameEx kick an error if it tried to run the emulator and it could not find it? The logs don't even show gameex tried to launch anything nor does any kind of runitgame.bat get created (even though the UI appears to attempt to launch it. -

I originally had that as my command line, but I put it back. Tried to run it after adding that back and nope, if you look at my log file you will see it never even attempts to launch Stella. I also tried it with kat5200 set up and it never tried to launch it either. If I turn on debug mode for that emulator it never even creates the runitgame.bat file. -
I have been trying all night to figure out what is wrong with my setup and I am about ready to give up. I have MAME and Daphne working fine, but only those 2 emulators work. Any other emulator I attempt to setup will not run. And by will not run I mean according to the logs GameEx does not even attempt to launch the game. I've attached my logile and the gameex.ini file. The emulator I am attempting to run is Stella. I have also tried Kat5200 with the same exact lack of launching. The logs show me launching GameEx, navigating to the Atart 2600 list, and attempting to launch Adventure. After waiting until the "Launching Atari 2600" disappears and I see nothing, hear nothing, and don't even see it if I alt-tab I exit GameEx. log.txt GameEx.ini
