There is a new version of the Model 2 emu out and roms to go along with it but the new roms don't show up in Game Ex.

Is there anyway to correct this?

Are you using the Model 2 integration or do you have it set up as a separate emulator?

Does this mean that the current 0.129 romset will work with Model2 now? Typical since I just went through grabbing older compatible ones just last month... <_<

Well according the the readme.txt file and the News on the site it appears that the set matches MAME as much as possible.

Changed romsets to match MAME as much as possible.

So probably gonna have to rebuild your rom set to match or can use MAME's rom set. I don't see a dat for this emulator quite yet. I guess we'll have to wait a few days for Logiqx to come up with one. Once that happens then I can create a MAP file to match the new names for them to show in GameEx if set up as separate emulator. Tom might have to make a few changes in code to accommodate for the new version as well if using the integration in GameEx.

Thanks.

Ill look at this. Anyone want to save me some work and provide me with the new model 2 rom names?

In what format do you need them Tom?

I ran my set through CMP last night with this dat file and it appears that a few things have changed, but everything can be rebuilt. The only thing that's missing is VCop2 and VF2 (as I recall). Thanks!

GameEx 9.82 just released.

Just a note... The info from the model2 site says that the new romset is set up to match as close as possible to the official MAME romset, but there are differences. Would now be a good time to add a model2 path for your roms in GameEx (or allow the defined path in the emulator to be used)?

Why would there be a need to set the path in GameEx if it can be defined in the emulator.ini file? That's where it's gathering where the roms are to load anyways. GameEx adds the location of your MAME roms to the emulator.ini file and then GameEx simply runs the the command-line as follows:

emulator_multicpu.exe [ROM]

I have this pointing to my Model 2 romset as well and it works fine.

My model2 roms were being loaded from the MAME rom path when I checked the runlastgame.bat. Perhaps something was set up wrong, but I don't know what. I didn't understand what was going on and couldn't stop it at the time, so I just added it to the MAME_Loader script along with Zinc (which was also loading form the MAME rom path). It shouldn't do that, but it was. It was sending the path despite not setting it up anywhere that I could see.

Anyway, if you have a suggestion for how to get it to NOT do this, then I could remove that section from MAME_Loader. It's not a big deal at this point since it's already included...

Well for Model 2, you can setup your rom directory to also include your Model 2 romset. If you don't want to use the MAME directory at all then the only thing you can do is set the emulator.ini file to read-only so that GameEx doesn't write to it. As far as ZiNc, I'll take a look at get back to you.

AFAIK, GameEx doesn't write to the emulator.ini file for Model2, it sends the info to the command line. I can't remember exactly, but I know it was loading the wrong roms when I checked. For Zinc, it definitely sends the rompath with a "--rompath" (or whatever the syntax is) statement. I have it set in the config file for zinc, but the command line overrides it.

It does write to the emulator.ini file. If you check the command-line then where does it tell where your MAME roms are? For testing to prove me wrong....LOL....put a semi-colon in front of the rom directory Dir1 which should point to your MAME directory. Then run from GameEx and look at emulator.ini again and you'll notice that GameEx writes a new value for Dir1 and will point to your MAME directory.

Maybe that's what's going on with model2 (I can't remember what it was doing ;)). I know Zinc was sending the path, which I didn't want. Oh, the other reason I put it in the loader was cause I wanted to be able to control where certain games were loaded. I think GameEx was not loading a couple with model2 for some reason, so I made sure it did! :D
