What system bios is everyone using to load Turbo CD games? It seems half the ones I load come up with a system error. =[

Looks like I am loading with "Super CD-ROM2 System Ver. 3.00".

Seems like everything I try and load I get an Load Error, what am I doing wrong? Is there something I don't have configred right in Magic Engine?

I read the follwing on another forum...

The Magic System is a reverse-engineered BIOS for people who don't have the original System Cards. As such, it doesn't work as well as the real deal, especially in the audio department. But David is going to improve it eventually. Still, a System Card is highly recommended.

You can put your system ROMs where you want, providing that you edit your config file and point it to the path where you put your System Cards. Example:

Code:

;

; system card paths

; --

;

system_card_1="E:\Magic Engine\System Card 1.00 (J).pce"

system_card_2="E:\Magic Engine\System Card 2.01 (U).pce"

system_card_3="E:\Magic Engine\Super System Card 3.00 (J).pce"

system_card_4="E:\Magic Engine\Games Express CD Card (J).pce"

Finally, a few Japanese games don't work with a US System Card (Alshark and Super CD-ROM² Taiken Soft Shū come to mind).

........................................

I have Magic Engine select to auto and all those cards add but I am still getting the load error!

I figured some of this out here. Had to do with Virtual CD loading the iso file and not the cue.

Still trying to work out the bugs. :unsure:

VirtualCloneDrive doesn't mount the image using the cue. You have to mount the ISO for it to work.

Daemon mounts the cue and if I mount the iso it does not work in Daemon.

In other words if I select the iso to mount outside of Game Ex with Daemon Tools the game will not work in Magic Engine however if I mount the cue it does.

Virtual will not mount the cue when I try to do it manual, I get an error and when Game Ex does it, it mounts the ISO and does not work inside or outside of Game Ex.

Daemon will mount the cue and VirtualCloneDrive will not work with the cue! You have to mount the ISO or just continue to use Daemon.

...but thats the point. I try mounting the iso with V.CD even outside of Game Ex and Magic Engine will not load the game. So as you always say, if it don't work outside Game Ex it surely is not going to work inside it. In any event, I tried both. ;)

What else did you change? You had it working before. Any errors when loading the game? Give more detail on what it's doing.

Hmmmm... I guess you right, it did get the ISO to mount with that one game outside Game Ex.

Well when the games don't load right using V.CD all I get is a load error when pressing the start button this is within Magic Engine.

I mean maybe the drive letter change but I don't see how that would have matter since I am hand selecting the image outside of Game Ex.

Here is what I do.

Mount the image to drive I: (V.CD Drive)

Run Magic Engine

Select Boot CD

It says I: data CD

***which BTW when I am using Daemon and load the .cue file it says the name of the game there and not "data CD"

I select data CD

It loads the card "Super CD-Rom2 System Ver. 3.00 and tells me to push the run button

I push the run button and it says "LOAD ERROR!"

Trying to get the new way to load also. It goes to the load cd screen and when I hit enter it goes to the hand over the play button. Then I can't get it to do anything .

I need more info than that. Please post your config!

How are you loading the games? From command-line or from the GUI selecting BOOT CD?

This happen for me from time to time when using Daemon Tools to load these. Never outside of Game Ex but from loading within it. I am not sure what happens but I could load a game once and get the dash that you speak of, exit back out to the Game Ex front end, click on it again to load the same game and it will work. :blink:

This to me seems like a timing issue with the unzipping and Daemon Tools. :(

After more and more testing with more games I find that It's just best to use daemon tools for this emulator. Then you can use the cue file. Some games I've tried to run will run using VirtualCloneDrive but some don't and yet still work in Daemon.

Ok the problem seems to be with dameon tools. If I manually mount the iso and run PCE outside of GameEx. I can run it. Dameon tools doesn't seem to be mounting it thru GameEx. I have 7zip my roms. Is that the problem.

Yes G is where Dameon tools is mounting from

That looks like the standard INI that use to come with GameEx. Have you verified all those paths? Is that how you have it all set up? Also your Launch before is incorrect. Should be as follows:

"C:\program files\Daemon Tools\daemon.exe" -mount 0,"[rompath]\[romname]"

Launch after:

"C:\program files\Daemon Tools\daemon.exe" -unmount 0

Command:

pce.exe "syscard3.pce"

Basically that whole setup looks incorrect. Please go through everything and set all paths to match the locations of your setup.

Very well could be a timing issue as I get errors loading zipped ISO's as well but run fine when they are not zipped. Tom will have to take a look at this. Best is to just keep unzipped to avoid issues. :(

Fixed the line for Daemon tools. Messed up when I tried to use the new system

Paths are right. I can run any game I manually mount in Daeom Tools. It just won't mount anything that I pick in GameEx.

You need to fix your quotes in the run before and after. Copy and paste to avoid errors. I highlighted in red to show what you need to fix. And in case you don't see it cuz it's a small fix you need to start with quotes.
