I downloaded the recommended program xpadder last night, and have found it to be very easy to use and an insanely intuitive program. The problem is I dont know how to launch it with an emulator. Here is my "Also launch" command, D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpad2.xpadderprofile , but it doesnt seem to launch with the emulator. I have also placed this in the "launch before" box with no results. For profiles ok but :

I have "cab-joy" and "dual shock" , what is the command line for launch one or other device controller ?

No luck, it was working but I couldnt get it to switch to another profile on exiting. Is there a guide or can someone just post there commands verbatim. What is the /M for at the end of your code. Also Xpadder is having issues with my controller, it assigns dpad up to zero then it says zero is invalid!!! I found a workaround though. I just assigned it to a made up button. Starting to ramble from too much red bull.....

Couldnt you kill the process upon exit and load the next profile when loading the next emu?

D:\My Games\Xpadder\Xpadder.exe seems to work fine launching the default control scheme but I cant load specific schemes

D:\My Games\Xpadder\Xpadder.exe "D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpad0.xpadderprofile" /M I have been working with this exact line, and variations thereof; with and without .xpadderprofile, /M, and quotes. is it even possible to launch different schemes for each game?

is there a command line to kill the process? or are you talking about exiting gameex switching xpad profiles and starting again?

If you are using Xp there is a built in command that will kill a running process/

TSKILL.exe

Usage TSKILL.exe Processname.exe

I like PSKILL better.. You can find it in the PSTOOLS suite... Its free and works VERY well...

Tskill will work also....

Id put this command in the launch after

Tskill.exe xpadder.exe

Ive downloaded pskill after deciding tskill was useless, and it works like a charm. I can now get gameex to kill xpadder after every time i exit. Thanks for the info. But I still dont know how to load a specific xpad profile. I have been trying for hours... and I can only get it to launch the default scheme. Im going for a beer. Ill check back in a bit. By the way thanks for the quick responses... I have been modding systems and messing with emulators for about 5 months now and its a constant learning proccess and that what I love about it.

Ok here is the deal... I misinformed you... you do NOT load the *.xpaddercontroller file... you load the *.xpadderprofile

I created a folder in my c:\ called Xpadder and I put my Xpadder.exe in it.

Next I opened Xpadder and created my controller layout and saved it as Saitek

Now in my c:\xpadder folder I have a file name saitek.xpaddercontroller

After that I assigned the keys I want it to simulate.. Once done I attemped to CLOSE xpadder.. It prompted me to SAVE my PROFILE

I named it Test.. You can name it whatever you want. Once saved I created a copy of it.. (by right clicking and choosing copy and pasting it in the same directory) I renamed the copy to TEST2... Again you can name it whatever you want. I opened up the COPY and re-assigned the keys and I saved it.

Next I opened up a DOS prompt and went to my xpadder folder..

cd c:\xpadder

Next I ran the program followed by the profile name.. no extention.. Along with the /m switch... this runs the program minimized.

xpadder.exe test /m

It worked.. Next I closed xpadder and ran the other config.

xpadder.exe test2 /m

It worked again..

So I suppose in launch before you can do c:\xpadder\xpadder.exe test2 /m

Or whatever name or path you choose..

Good luck

You should be able to load the profile directly without calling out xpadder.exe. I don't know if that holds true with multiple joysticks though.

The "also launch" command in gameex is not a normal command prompt. It only seems able to launch .exe files. unlike the command prompt which will launch ".xpadderprofile" schemes.

Did you read my post?

c:\xpadderpath\xpadder.exe profilename /M

Hope this helps

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\test.xpadderprofile" in run prompt works

same thing in the "also launch"=nothing

"also launch" variations;

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpadder.exe test.xpadderprofile"

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpadder.exe test"

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpadder.exe" (works but only launches the default file)

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\test.xpadderprofile"

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\test"

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpadder.exe D:\My Games\Xpadder\test.xpadderprofile"

"D:\My Games\Xpadder\xpadder.exe D:\My Games\Xpadder\test"

There are many other variations but Im to tired to type anymore.

What is the Game Ex prompt adding or ignoring to make these commands not work.

Any Ideas

The command line options can be used with the command prompt, a batch file or a shortcut.

Xpadder "profile1" "profile2" "profile3" "shortcut.lnk" /M /C /?

- All options can be combined in any order.

- Switches (for example; /M) can be in upper or lower case.

- If filenames and/or paths include spaces then they must be enclosed in quotes.

- If no command line options are listed and this program is already running then the main window will restore or minimize.

"profile"

Starts this program and automatically opens the profile(s) onto each controller. If this program is already running then the profiles will be automatically opened.

- If no controllers are connected then the profile(s) will open when a controller is connected

- If only one profile is specified and more than one controller is connected then the selected controller will open the profile

- If more than one profile is specified and more than one controller is connected then the first profile will be opened by the first controller and so on

- If the profile extension is omitted it will be automatically added

"shortcut.lnk"

Starts this program (if it is not already running) and launches the shortcut.

- The shortcut must be a ".lnk" file and you must include the ".lnk" extension

- To launch an executable first create a shortcut to it and use the name of that shortcut

- Shortcuts will only launch when at least one controller is found, all controllers are connected and all profiles have successfully opened

/M

Starts this program minimized. If this program is already running it will be minimized if necessary.

/C

Closes this program if it is already running - if this program is not already running then it will not start.

/?

I finally came back and figured this one out. I used batch files to launch specific profiles, and it works perfectly. Thanks for your help, the real problem was I had no idea what you were talking about, so I read up on a few things over the past few months, and I think Ive got a little bit better grasp on the technical side of things. Although I have a quick question, how do I assign a specific profile to the right controller. I read what wrote above but it doesnt seem to work that way. I am setting up a second controller. When I try to launch it either switches player 1 and 2 profile or opens the same profile for both, but it rarely ever works right. Here is the batch file I am using

Start "" "D:\My games\xpadder\360nes.xpadderprofile"

Start "" "D:\My games\xpadder\360nes2.xpadderprofile"

The first is for profile 1 the second is for 2. Ive tried typing "profile1" and "profile2" behind them respectively but the same problem occurs. I know your probably fed up with my questions but I have had no problems or questions about any other part of this program (which I purchased because I think its the coolest program ever) and I have taken upon myself to go out of my way to learn and find the answers on my own. So thanks again for your help I am really learning here.
