Hi there

Ive found this application and find it great for my use. I am using it in light mode as i only want to use it to use my emulators and pc games. I use MCE for the rest. Ive come across a problem though. For some of my games eg colin mcrae rally 3 it uses the ESC key to go back on the game menu. Problem is if i press the ESC key (i have the ESC key assigned to a button on my gamepad) the menu will go back one level in the game but then exit the game and go back to gameEX.

Can anyone hep me getting around this problem as i am sure other games use the ESC key to go to a menu or do something else. I dont care about using the ESC key to exit the application as i use the back button on the MCE remote to do that.

Any help would be highly apreciated.

well i'm fairly new but i think you fix this by setting:

MapKeys=False

and quitting the game through the game's menu.

Yeh i found that option. the only problem is that now the back button on the MCE remote will not work when in a game. I like how i can exit the game instantly but if only that could be done through a different key command.

If you want the MCE back button to work but not ESC, try my launcher. The sources are included. It also allows you to use the RECORD button to save the emulator state and the PLAY button to restore the emulator state. For most emulators you will want to set save to F5 and restore to F7. The binary automatically switches to some other keys for certain emulators that are not assignable.

Disable MapKeys and insert "KeyMonitor.exe" before the command line you want to run.

for example:

Command=S:\EMU\util\KeyMonitor.exe Zsnesw.exe "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

Note that there a whole bunch exceptions and hacks built into this based on the need to fine tune things. See the sources for details. I am sharing what I use with you, the intention was not to be a consumer-friendly and adjustable program. The most notable thing you should be aware of is how KeyMonitor exits ZSnes. If you use Zsnes, you will want to go into the ZSnes gui and assign the "X" key to exit ZSnes. This way it exits gracefully and saves the sram, which was a problem under GameEx alone.
