Madcatz 360 TE Stick and Mame/ GameEX

I recently got this stick and was ready to plug and play but nothing works. If I open MameUI_0.135.exe and try to navigate only the [ENTER] button works.

I try with the Emulator(GameEX) and that doesn't work either. Now I do have an Xbox 360 Controller[PC-Version] that is emulated fine(Not the D-Pad though) but not this stick.

I did click joystick support under Mame.exe. I'm in the process of getting all my files/hardware together so I'm doing lots of testing.

Anyone have this working?

This might sound stupid, but you do have the 360 controller drivers installed right? I'm using the SE fightstick for testing and mine works fine in all programs, including mame and game ex.

Well the Xbox 360 [PC] controller works fine and those drivers are installed. It's my Madcatz 360 SF4 TE Stick that's having issues. Plus if I go to [Control Panel]-->Game Controllers Adapters, the TE stick is listed and the buttons respond when I press them.

As far as game ex goes, the menus will not recognize your POV hat joystick. I replaced my fightstick joystick with the same JLF stick that is in your (tournament edition) stick. You can enable custom joystick controls in game ex and use the buttons on your controller but like I said the joystick will never work, unless of course you use something like xpadder.

As far as mame goes, you mentioned that when you try and navigate only the enter button works. What are you trying to navigate? Your list of games or the in game setup menu? Either way the joystick will have no control over either of these things as these are mouse only areas. Try going into a game through mame, hitting tab, setting up the controls by hitting the respective keys on your stick, and then report back. I'm not sure if you have tried setting up your game controls yet.

Well yes, I'm [TESTING] the TE stick to see what works. Only one button works.(The one that starts up the game).

Well when I connect my [Xbox 360 USB controller], you can use the Analogs to search for games(Hitting Up/Down) but not with the TE stick. I have been over to the SRK boards and some say their stick works and is activated just like an [Xbox 360 USB controller] with the same drivers and some have use Xpadder and some, well same issues I'm having.

[EDIT] - Well I was able to map the keys after setting the TE stick on LS[DP]RS settings. Back in the GameEX menu, you can't navigate with it.

The Madcatz TE stick has all the same buttons an Xbox 360 controller has but doesn't work in the same manner. I'm sure it probably works well to SF4 on [PC] or something but haven't had god luck with Emulators. Another thing when I go to Controller panel/Devices you can't even Calibrate the damn thing. I'll try editing a MAME game through the Input settings on the game Menu. I wonder if I have to do this for every game. I'll end up getting rid of the TE stick.

I was able to set the buttons input in the game after setting the stick to LS[DP]RS but back in GameEX menu it doesn't move.

By the way, POV support is coming very soon. Ive got a regular 360 gamepad on the way to me so I can test and implement it.

Great news Tom. And like Tom said POV is currently unsupported. You will not be able to use your TE joystick to navigate gameEx until this is implemented. As far as everything Mame and emulator related, your TE stick will work just fine with no runaround. I've played with both the SE and TE madcatz sticks in mame and various emulators and had no problems.

Oh and what you said about not being able to calibrate the stick, well that is because it has no analog input. It is strictly digital, the switches are either on or they're off. So there is really nothing to calibrate.

And for editing your mame controls, just edit the first option where it says controls(all) or something along those lines. This will set all games to duplicate those buttons. However I'm sure you'll want to change certain games around (maybe line up 4 buttons for neo geo games) and that is what the controls(this game) option is for.

I must of missed the [input for all games], I will try that. Eventually I will have to build and actual Control Panel, it's just, I'm not at that stage.

Glad to help. If you're going to build a control panel, don't make the mistake I did. I did all my setup and testing on my fightstick, and now that my cabinet is finished, going back in and changing everything in every emulator is a major pain.
