Hello there,

I'm running GameEX(registered) on Japanese edition of Win7 x64, and it's working mostly fine except for a few problems so far.

Firstly, Japanese characters that's configured by using "Custom Menu" won't show up on start-up menu.

Secondly, It crushes when it's try to read rom files that's named with Japanese characters.

Is there any way to solve these problem? Please help.

PS. How do I make it skip intro movies when GameEX launches? I have changed the "skip intro" option under "enable/disable" menu but doesn't work.

I can help with the latter. What theme are you using?

For the first item I think its because config\custommenu.ini is not saved as a unicode file but in ANSI. This is fixed for the next release for new installs but could you try opening the file with notepad and resaving it as unicode?

For the second item, could you please post the log when it crashes and explain exactly when the crash happens?

Thanks.

Tom.

Thank you for your replies.

Adultery, I use Media Center default for the theme.

TSpeirs, I just have tried resaving the ini file as unicode, and It's working perfect!! Thank you so much.

And the other problem with naming rom file by using Japanese characters, the error message says "Can not open (rom)file" but it seems that file name is gone all garbled.

Although, it is okay (all letters are not garbled).

Any clue?

Thank you.

Ok, let's knock out this startup video first. Please go to the following folder:

C:/GameEx/Theme/Default - Media Center

Open the THEME.INI in Notepad and paste in the following line in the first set of settings:

SkipIntro=True

This is to test, so if it works for you I'll give you a more permanent solution. Please let me know.

You will need to post the log with this happening. Also post \data\runitgame.bat

TSpeirs, Thank you for your support.

I will try the update as soon as I get home, and I will post the result.

Adultery, Thank you for your reply.

I have tried adding the line on ini file, but unfortunately it didn't work for me :(

I'm going to try out with this update and see if anything changes.

Thank you.

Sorry for the slow response.

TSPeirs,

I just have tried 11.87, all those texts on configurations well translated into selected languages. I'm so impressed.

But it's still unable to open the rom file which uses Japanese characters.

I have sent you the log.txt and runitgame.bat files, please check.

BTW in my environment, any changes I make on Setup Wizard only updates GameEX.ini file under CONFIG folder, since the actual ini file that affect configuration is Japanese.ini under CONFIG/LANGUAGE/.

Is this how it suppose to be?

I hope you get what I'm trying to tell.

Thank you.

See my PM reply and yes that is how it is supposed to be. Japanese.ini just has the translation text. GameEx.ini is where all configuration is stored. The SetupWizard.xml files store the configuration text and settings templates.

This problem is mostly solved.

It ended up to one conclusion which is to edit map files to make what titles you want to display on the menu.

Somehow, yet some of the files are not working while using that method,

I will see what are the differences between the correct and the wrong in map file and give a report back if I find something.

Tom,

Thank you for your great work and helping me patiently.
