I searched for hours, played with it for hours and now I'm just extrememly discouraged.

Problem: I get a black screen when I launch a game. If I alt-tab I see that the Winuae properties box is launched, so I believe this must be the problem.

I know there is a checkbox in each .uae file that you can turn off the properties box at launch, but everytime I try to do this, it always comes back as unchecked. I can change any other setting and save it, but this one I can't. I was running version .8something where I initially had the problem, but now I'm running the latest 1.2 and it still does the same thing. All the games run great if I just double click the uae files. And yes I do have each rom configed with the correct floppy path.

On the command line i've tried removing the " " from rom file, I've tried -f, -no_gui=yes .

Here's the log:

[Emulator_4]

Thanks for taking the time to read this :)

You could try setting ShowDesktop to True. ShowDesktop should only be set to False for fullscreen DirectX applications. I don't know if WinUAE uses DirectX or not, but it's worth a shot.

Hey have you set the emulator up with kick start files, they dont come with the emulator, and what version are you using?

i got Winuae running nicely in GameEx im not sure what you are after but i have made the amiga after my own taste divided in sections like : Demos/games/cd32 i could have made one complete section but i prefer to have them seperated.

if you are familier how to use winuae (like differents kickstarts if its Ecs/Aga and so on)

then its just to :

ROMFilter=*.uae

then guide it the folder where to your .uae files are

RomPath=your path

last

Command=winuae.exe -f "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

that should do the trick the only thing are you have to config all your games what afcouse can be alot time consuming ...

ps: remember to add your disks in Winuae and save your config else it will just start up in your kickstart mode ...

hope it helps :)

hey thanks guys for the replies, unfortunately I can't test it just yet. Something new is happening to my gameex box, gotta fix that first real quick before I can try these.

all of the abuv is right but you must put in your config settings where it says

wait for keys put 7000

and also where it says keys to send put {enter} hope that helps.

hmmm, never thought of that, so enter would close the properties box for me. 7000ms should be enough time for the box to show up. I'm still having directx problems whenever gameex runs any video, even screensaver. Once thats fixed I'll try it out and let you know, thanks!

Sweet it seems like all those above suggestions made it work. Now its just exiting back to gameex that doesnt work, I think I've seen a few posts about it so I'll do some searching on that

*EDIT* Nope, can't find a post on exiting back to gameex with winuae, gotta use alt-f4. If anyone knows, spread the wealth :lol:

Mapkeys=yes should do it, no?

You could use an advanced emulator config. The Project64 one could be modified to work for this, as it sends Alt-F4. If winuae launches additional processes yourll need to specifiy them too.

Hiya,

I'm interested in running UAE on my GameEx box too.

Is it possible to provide the full details needed (config, any scripts etc..)

Thanks in advance :)

I'd be interested in seeing a config also since I don't currently use this emulator.

Thanks! :)

ok i will try to explain how i have sat up the amiga in GameEx ...

first this are a time consuming process but i think so far this way are the best becouse the amiga are

alittle special differents kickstarts/chipsets/680xx modes all there are unique for the differents games to work ..

here goes :

first start Winuae up lets say its " Mega lo Mania " you wanna add ..

set it up with the right settings like how much ram/kickstart/chipset/68000

then insert the 2 floppys in the "floppy drives" section (if the game are more then 4 drives use the "disk swapper" as well ...

Now you should have it set up save the config in "configurations" section call it forexample "Mega lo Mania.uae" test it in winuae see if it works if it does then you are ready for the next step :

Now its time to set GameEx up so

change ROMFilter to

ROMFilter=*.uae

RomPath=your path (where you stored your .uae files)

Command=winuae.exe -f "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

hope it helps or are detailed enough :)

EDIT : there is a new version out 1.3 of Winuae btw

My WinUAE is working fine, except ...

1 - Escape sometimes works, but sometimes just results in a black screen. I've got MapKeys on (and the delay on), so I'm unsure why it only seems to work some of the time.

2 - I've got my configuration files saved with disks in the disk-swapper (thanks for your help, Night!). However, I was wondering whether there's any way to map a single key onto "End+1", "End+2", "End+3". Basically, this would allow me to allocate a button on my arcade controls to each of these shortcuts, thus not having to use a keyboard.

Cheers :-)
