MAME 118 is released! woo hoo :)

Grabbed from 1emulation:The stable version is (also) 0.118. NOTE: if you are upgrading directly from 0.117 or earlier, please note that you must delete all .cfg files and re-configure your controllers.

With that said go grab it at the official site: http://mamedev.org/releases/mame0118b.exe

Patch to remove all those (unwanted?) messages.

Just trying to keep headkaze on his toes! :)

Why do you have to rebuild the .cfg files? Couldn't they just be changed to be compatible by parsing the current files? I would upgrade to the new version of MAME, but I REALLY don't want to go through building my input files again. Anyone want to upload a comparison of the two .cfg files to see the difference?

I'm thinking that there might be a way to just write a tool to upgrade the old .cfg files to the new format.

Yeah I'd like to see these differences too

I believe the differences are mainly to do with the new input system which supports multiple keyboards. But I thought there was a command line option to enable/disable it. Perhaps there is more to it?

If it's just keyboard changes, then that should mean that a script could be written to convert input files. For instance, if the old command was KEY_J and the new command was KBD1_KEY_J, then we could manually update our files rather than rebuilding them from scratch. I have at least 2 setups for the different fighters (SF and NeoGeo) plus my guns, etc. and I don't want to redo it again (it took a few hours the first time).

Perhaps just deleting the default.ini file. Could work for me since the only keyboard stuff I have is the default buttons, which I don't use for cab functions.

Any idea if there is a patch like this for MAME32? I'd really like to be able to make my disclaimers and "info" screens go away again....

Personally I don't see why anyone would be using Mame32 if they are using GameEx as a FE. You don't need Mame32 for use in GameEx.

I quite agree... I just don't think most users understand that... Or are not familir with command line at all. (which is understandable due to the fact that its old in this point and click world(personally I use the dos prompt everyday for various reasons) But for those of us that remember the joys of adding programs and statments to our autoexec.bat and config.sys to tell te OS we had HIMEM or a VESA compatable card.. Or the ability to Boot in win311 it comes fairly easy..

How many posts come regarding video issues (it works fine in mame32) when its just adding the correct switches.

I feel that as time passes there will be more and more of these.
