My Folder list of MAME games shows the game names in brackets even though I have this switched off within GameEx. is there another setting that changes this and turns it off please?

Did you make sure to rebuild the list after the change?

yes. using update list within gameex. i am using folders view as well and all mname games list and both show the () in game names.

Mine too. Mine shows all clones still too. Been that way for a while. I think there's a list filter bug somewhere in there...

No clones unless better, remove brackets, and no mahjong/porn (both of which also show up).

Hmmmmm just tested with those filters and now my list doesn't have the brackets as it's suppose to. Not sure about the mahjong and porn since didn't go far into the list. Perhaps just delete the gamelist.txt file (better yet, backup and then delete) found in the DATA directory of your GameEx install and rebuild list again to see if it takes.

Could very well be. Which is why i suggested to delete that file. If not then we can do some more troubleshooting. I always hate to say this to users but "It works for me"! LOL. So it has to be something silly like that. ;)

same thing here.though i never noticed untill i read this post.i have clones and adult enabled,mahjong disabled but mahjong is still there :(

I HATE MAHJONG!!!! are there really this many mahjong machines in the world?!?!?!?

how many times can i say "mahjong" in one post!?!?!?

now fixed. appears if you run the update twice it works - weird but all working.

i may sumbit this to Tom as a bug report.

@Adultery - This is the same fault you and I talked about a little while back. I never got it to work no matter how many times I recreated my list.

Anyone else try re-running the update twice and have it work? It never worked for me. I threw in the towel and manually updated the list myself.

Either way, it seems like a bug and it's selective. Meaning that it's not affecting everyone. I notified Tom of this issue so that he can take a look and give his input. We'll wait for him on this. Thanks for he report guys!

just to add, i ran it twice within gameex. what i mean is repeated the update straight after. if this helps!

This is an issue that has affected a few users. Even one of our mods is having troubles with this. It has been noted and hopefully Tom will look into it soon. Thanks for the report.

I seem to have skipped this bug and it doesnt help with the brackets issue but in case anyone wants to take out mahjong etc you can also use RomLister to move roms to another folder (or delete them completely). I made a couple of batchfiles to move the different catagories I didn't want like MahJong, light gun, trackball, casino etc. Then went back and removed any other games in Gameex manually, copied the remove rom list from the gamesex settings to a batchfile and removed all them as well from the rom folder (as well as their videos). End result is a full 0.141 rom set down to 1900 usable games.

@Tom: You should already have my ini and it has this problem as well as not filtering clones, adult games, and mahjong. :)

More like sadness! :)

I miss my nice clean list. But when the new mobo comes together I'll take the time and manually remove them, maybe even create a MAP file. :)
