I seem to be having this weird issue with GameEx wanting to launch the games for my PSX. When I launch a game, I get a black screen with the controller up in the right corner indicating that the emulator is working but then nothing happens. If I launch the emulator alone and then launch the games, it loads up just fine, it's just that GameEx launching the titles wont do anything.

I'm using ePSXe 1.70 with everything set to the default settings. Is there something I'm missing?

How are you loading these images? What command-line are you using? Posting an emulator config would be helpful for us to troubleshoot.

I'm using the default as I said. Nothing is changed so what GameEx has set for default info and what ePSXe has is what it's set to, nothing is changed.

The images are being loaded through .iso and .img files under the ROM folder. GameEx sees them just when I launch them, it seems either GameEx isn't sending the info to the Emulator or the Emulator is just not knowing what to do with it.

I think the default command-line is ePSXe.exe- nogui[virtualdrive] I think that's what it was set to.

Virtual Clone Drive doesn't support IMG files. Can you verify that it works on the ISO images? Also did you make sure to set the drive letter in the emulator itself so it knows where to look for the image?

Yep, I did so with that, and it seems Virtual Clone Drive thinks it does, as it recognizes it and keeps wanting to control the file type.

I tested both types with still nothing.

I usually use .iso anyways but I have older ones I made in .img

I'm going to try something and see if this is the reason, I will report back shortly.

EDIT: This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen. If I run the .iso file straight from the Emulator, it doesn't load, nor does saying run from CD-ROM, but if I run the .img files, those work...I have no idea why...

why dont you just use magic iso (or another converting program)and convert the .img files to bin\cue

This is what I did to a few psx games that were in a .img,.ccd,.sub format instead of the normal .bin\.cue and they work fine.

are you using epsxe?I am and I have never had to use virtual clone drive or any mounting software to play them

EDIT: after re-reading your post im getting the impression that you are using psx game discs....

Yep, I created the .iso's myself from my Disc's but I will give the bin/cue thing a try, I did use MagicISO too.

It seems that ePSXe just doesn't want to read the Virtual Drive at all, I've tried different plugins and what not, if I run the newly created .bin/.cue files directly they work, if I mount them in the Virtual Drive, it does nothing but give a black screen.

forget mounting,its a unnecessary step :)

only emu I still need to mount for is SSF

It seems to be the only way GameEx will want to launch them is through a Mount, how can I just tell it to launch the game without having GameEx mounting it and trying to use the RUN CD-ROM command?

Also, I seemed to have tricked it, I changed the .img files to .iso myself to trick the mounting issues and now it works. So if you know a better way of setting it up Mesk, let me know please.

Thanks for your help.

Also on a side note, how do you setup that GameEx Sig. I've been gone for sometime and it looks like a great way for me to help get some people here (unless this sig only works on this forum).

sorry for the delay, internet trouble YET AGAIN

is this your command line?

 EPSXE.EXE -NOGUI -LOADBIN "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]"

also set your rom filter to *.bin

as long as your games are in the .cue\.bin format, this command line will work

Im not really to sure about just changing extensions,I would just convert your .iso to .bin\.cue with magic iso, each game only takes about a minute

regarding the sig,did you get your *free* GameEx game card? which BTW although simple,is one of the coolest GameEX features and,as far as I know,is one no other FE have :)

the game card will work in any forum that allows it,BTW its just the gray GameEx card, the two orange one's are from Emumovies (DUH) LOL!!

Oh another thing you might want to try is try switching to pSX,I just got it last night so I havent had to much time to play with it,but it is far simpler to use the epsxe, and it doesnt use plugins

let us know how you made out :)

Also a pSX user and I run compressed images to save drive space. Works like a charm for me so far. :)

I will try that command line out, and give it a try, also no, where do I get this Free Card? I really do like it, as it shows what I'm playing ATM :D

I can't get that command line to work at all, it just gives me a black screen then goes back to GameEx, did you place something wrong in the line?

In my experience, loading with the command line you posted works so long as there is only one bin file. If the image is zipped as bin tracks (more than one bin file) you will have to load through dameon tools. If you would like, I can post my command line later today ;)

EDIT:

Change your command line to:

epsxe.exe -nogui

and then do this:

LaunchBefore=""C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -mount 0,"[rompath]\[romfile]""
LaunchAfter="C:\Program Files (x86)\DAEMON Tools Lite\DTLite.exe" -unmount 0

I use dameon tools lite, and that is where mine is installed, so wherever yours is should be fine.

You can use:

epsxe.exe -nogui -slowboot

to get the PSX bios screen to load, but it's buggy. I still load it, though :P

Im not sure what the problem is,but if you use magic iso to convert your iso's to .bin\.cue,this command line will work,im using it myself

Ive never heard of bin tracks before, does it save space?

If I use your command, it gives me an error -NOGUI Param incorrect (I'm sure because it needs to be ePSXe.exe-NOGUI not ePSXe.exe -NOGUI) If I do it that way it then just brings me straight back to GameEx without doing anything.

It's probably something simple that I would rather just get to the bottom of instead of you spending so much time on this. If you want real time support then please click on the chat tab on top of the screen.

To be honest, I'm not really, sure, but I do know that I have a redump collection which contains a game zipped through this format. If you happen to have a setup where all your games are in the form of one bin and one cue file, loading directly into epsxe works fine. If there are multiple formats, mounting is the way to go.

Yeah, I'm just sticking with the mounting then. :( Oh well thanks for your help though.
