GameBase support

GameEx can now utilize an existing GameBase installation and support and make use of included collections. The feature is pretty much plug and play with only two settings and does require the newest version of the GameBase front end to be installed.

It includes substantial database support and also works seamlessly with artwork and extras.

GameBase is the work and copyright of James Burrows and is a great standalone

front-end in its own right. Hopefully, I am improving on the concept by bringing

it a step closer to being used on Media Centers and Arcade Cabinets.
Well I'm kinda new to Gamebase and just installed it and setup GameEx to use gamebase but I must be missing something because I didn't see anything new at all. Might help if we had some docs on how to use this.

Can someone briefly explain to me what this is and why I should have it? I've spent a huge amount of time setting things up just so, and would hate to lose all my hard work over something I may never need.

GameEx works with an "Existing" GameBase setup and "collections" with just 2 settings to get it to work so for docs its probably best you look at GameBase itself.

Its worth looking into its currently the best option for C64 and quite a few others.

I did peek into that a little. For someone who doesn't use Amiga or C64 there's no real benefit? Or does GameEx list emulator clone and series data like it does for MAME? THAT would be a nice touch. Then again I'm not sure I fully understand the capabilities of this FE. Maybe it doesn't do that for the usual emus like NES and SNES?

I think it will mainly be good for the likes of C64 and Amiga although there are some other great collections out there. It does not really do anything more than what GameEx does with its own databases in terms of the front end but all the assets are nicely included in the gamebase collections and it has some quite powerful scripting although its not needed so much for the simple systems.
