I have my cab up and running thanks to A LOT of help from this forum. Several hundred games per emulator (few thousand for MAME) and it's a bit of a pain to use the joystick to scroll down through them. Is there a way to make the right joystick scroll by letter? X-Arcade controls for joysticks (8,2,4,6)- Numpad for left, keyboard for right (r,f,d,g)?

Turn on alpha/paging. When you hold the alpha/paging key and press up/down, you will scroll one page. When you hold down the button and press left/right, you will scroll one letter.

Have fun!

Thanks. That was so easy I might never have figured it out myself. lol. I was hoping it would be simple. Thanks again.

While we're on the subject...

Any way of using a joystick to do a game search under that menu option? Is there a virtual keyboard pop-up option somewhere I can't find?

If not, this may get added to the feature request thread real fast. :D Would be very cool to have...

There has been discussion of an onscreen keyboard, but I'm not aware of anything built in to GameEx. You might be able to find something in one of the threads that discussed this (do a forum search). I don't know why you need a keyboard though, since you can use the search feature to find anything you want. It's obviously not as fast as a keyboard, but it is usable.

I tried a few different OSKs, but didn't find one that would work with GameEx. sad.gif

No worries. Looks like using up/down to pick a letter works fine. Not as quick, but does the trick!

Yeah, but you can hold down the joystick and it will go faster. BUT, with only 26 letters, it doesn't take that long to find a game anyway. I typically use the alpha paging to get to the right letter, then use standard paging to get to the right screen, then use scroll to the right game. It's definitely not as quick as just typing the name of the game, but it's not too bad considering it's an MAME cabinet!
