Upgraded to new version now animations are choppy?

I had an older version (not sure which one but about 3 months old) which ran great on my system. I had a drive failure and now got a new drive and installed the new version and it runs all of the animations really choppy. Is there a reason for this does the new version require more ram? I have 128 and am going to upgrade but would like other suggestions. Thanks

system specs

pchips newer mother board

AMD 2200+

Geforce 4 4200 128MB Graphics card

128 MB ram

western digital 80 gig hard drive

I'm getting the same thing and I have a P4 3.2 with 1G of RAM. Running WinXP SP2. I figured it was one of the graphics settings, but haven't had time to tweak the new version yet.

could be this

15. NVidia unified drivers newer than 66.93 seem to have serious bugs with DirectX 2D support. You can get 66.93 drivers here

Dont tell me ATI drivers have issues too now?

Smiff, Can you double check the Dont Wait Blitting Setting under Advanced Config. This should not be turned on in almost all instances.

I have smooth animations (Full frame rate) on a PIII 700Mhz with Geforce 3. Something must be up with your config somehow or somewhere if your using a 9600. That's what I use on both my development PC and HTPC. Although I dont upgrade my drivers regularly, as they work, and I dont play the latest 3D game efforts.

Cheers.

Thanks for posting this. I couldn't figure out why my new NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200 with 256 megs of ram wasn't able to run GameEx. Even the latest drivers don't work.

Here is the direct link if anyone needs it to the 66.93 which do work beautifully.

Of course, I just found what your wrote in Tom's Frequently asked questions. DOH.

DontBlitWait=False

that's what you mean isnt it.

generally the first transition after starting gameex isnt smooth, after that it seems mostly ok.. if that helps.

i'm not keen on changing driver versions on this machine any more than i have to, i just went from 5.6 to 5.9 for no particular reason though, not sure if thats related and would rather not have to go back.. this isn't so major anyway.

I did get the answer in the FAQ when I was looking around after posting. The odd part was that I had newer drivers before too but they worked fine. I now loaded the old drivers and all is good. Sorry for not reading more before I posted.
