Upgrading GameEx

I've been reading some threads that talk about some great new GameEx features, primarily the high score board. I haven't upgraded my GameEx since I first purchased is about a year ago--I'm hesitant to upgrade as I do not want to mess up any settings at the moment. I haven't been able to find a thread that explains the most efficient/painless way to upgrade; though I'm sure one exists. Does anybody have a link to such a thread, or advice on how to complete such an upgrade? Thanks in advance!

When you upgrade all your settings should be kept. Make a back up of your game ex folder before you back up though

I tend to do two things.

1) Export all your emulator settings (this is the one thing that may go wrong as a lot of options have been added)

2) make a copy of your gameex dir (as mentioned in last post)

Install the new version. If all goes well - Great!

If you find your emu setups have gone a bit strange, just import the ones you have saved and all will be fine.

If anything really tragic happens (and I can not envisage anything?), post the problem here or just delete your new install and restore the backup.

what folder is the dir in?I want to do this too,

where ever you installed it to. Default would be c:/programs/GameEx or something along those lines

'C:\Program Files\GameEx' by default. If you opted to install it elsewhere, you would have to go to that location.

I have upgrade to the newest version ever single time now for about the past 4 or 5 months, not a single issue.

Game Ex pops up and says there is an update out do I want to update, I say yes and away it goes... Nothing could be more simple!

Please note that by accepting the updates, you don't necessarily get the new features by default. Sometimes they are optional in which case Tom doesn't necessarily turn them on. For example, force shutdown and HiToText both require you to turn them on in the settings.

Really? I don't recall enabling HiToText and it works... I just had no clue it was there or where to look.

Some things are turned on automatically, some require you to enable them. I don't know how Tom decides...
