I think it might be a timing issue.

Can you try the attached. Are you getting a mounting error in the log?

I don't see that error, here is part of my log file.

The only thing I can think of is that your sure you don't have to tell it what drive to use?

When I load a game from Magic Engine after I mount the image I still have to select boot CD and then pick the image but it is in the list.

Of course you have to tell it what drive you use. See above post!

If it's mounted and in the list then you're obviously not telling it where the mounted image is.

Tom you do understand the times I've giving are only when I first go into the Game Info screen for the first time?

Anyway this one seems no different. 90 seconds then I quit GameEx ran again and I counted 86 seconds. It's not a big deal as it's only the first time you enter Game Info.

I don't know Tom! All works for me with the exe I mentioned. Second run I got it to 5 seconds. First run was 6 seconds. So it's a huge increase in speed than I was getting before.

Tom,

I'm sorry I didn't understand the first portion of this conversation about the ISO release.

I have games that use SECUROM and will not work with virtual drives installed. I have these games running through Gameex. Will this new ISO mount feature interfere with my game that use SECUROM, such as Crysis Warhead?

I'm not Tom but no this will not interfere with anything unless you want it to run and specify it in the command-line.

You will still have to use Daemon Tools for copy protected games

If you download the latest version of gameex, is the iso thing on by default?

No, you will still retain your original settings. The new iso support is there if you choose to use it. "best of both worlds" as it were!

I did not go back and read through all of this post and maybe it has been covered but I don't know how the hell you guys are loading Turbo Games with the new feature. For me when I load Turbo CD Games I need to load the .cue file and even though I have the filter on to load the .cue file, V. CD still loads the iso and in return my CD games do not load.

I am also having a stange issue now that whenever I use Magic Engine inside Game Ex and press the "H" key, it kicks me out of the game and back into the Game Ex menus... Can anyone test this for me please and report back? This problem does not happen when I am using MG outside of Game Ex and it is not happening with other emulators within Game Ex.

You could try not pressing the H key... See if that helps and please report back?

I tested and didn't have this problem. Only thing I can think of is that you have "H" mapped some how. Maybe an advanced config or something.

Where would I look for this?

Where would I look for this?

Emulator Setup >>> Advanced Config:

See if it's using one and if it is then open it and see if "H" is being mapped anywhere.

The file can be found in the CONFIG\EMULATORS directory of your GameEx install.

Maybe just turn it off to test if it's using one. Other than that I wouldn't know what else you have running that would map it to something else. You say it's only when using GameEx so you must be mapping something. Maybe post your config so we can see what's going on.

Turning that off fixed the problem, thank you.

The one stange issue I am having with the Turbo CD is this, I am still using Daemon Tools at this point BTW.

Sometimes it seems like Game Ex does not wait for the files to be unzip before it tells Daemon to mount the image. I can try downloading the new Game Ex file in this thread but I did not know if that would help my problem since I am not using Virtual CD for Turbo at this point. Otherwise is there a way to make it pause longer before it trys to mount the image? Sometimes it works perfect but I can usually tell when it is not going to work as by the time it take to unzip the image...

BTW... I am not sure why H would have been mapped to anything, I don't ever remember setting anything like that but as I said, that did correct it so thanks.

Thanks for your help guys. Ive obviously made some improvements even if its not better for everyone.

Now on with the database support.

Going to see Quantom of Solace a bit later on at the cinema.

I just bought the new bond blu-rays. Being playing with them a bit with the new iso support in GameEx and WinDVD.

Couple of suggestions for improving the caching speed. Use the Dictionary classes for "Name", "Publisher" and "Developer" to cross reference info in all databases. Reading all the databases and caching these fields takes DBM about 6 seconds. That includes the C64 one which is massive and takes about 3 seconds of that time. There is probably more work required by GameEx than in DBM but I hope that might help anyway. If you need anymore info just drop me an e-mail :)

PS Haven't got myself a BlueRay player yet. I guess the quality must be pretty awesome.

Thanks Ben. Ill look into Dictionary. Once there cached all its really doing is just loading them into an array. So I am puzzled while its slow its on your system. Its not even to the point where dictionary would be useful. It could help when it actually does cache them though, but Im not too worried about that at this point.

Yes the quality is amazing. I was never really impressed with HD television services, but BluRay is quite something.

You need a good spec to play them back on PC though. My machine here is not 100% up to it. Im guessing I need a PCIe version 2 card.

Tom,

Will you be cont. to working on the timing issues?

If you read over this thread here you will see that a few of use are having some issues.

http://www.gameex.info/forums/index.php?showtopic=6626

I tried your updated exe here, not much luck.

Thanks.

What timing issue are you referring to? From what I have just read the issue is because of the strange format turbo cd games are in and there not supported 100% with virtual clone drive. So what can I do? Obviously it does not work 100%, and you need to use daemon tools.

The updated exe adds a pause when using the gameex iso support, not for anything else.
