I was obviously unaware, or obviously i wouldn't have done that. Does that mean nobody will help me?

We can help with setting up GameEx. Can not help with finding roms or sharing them other than try google.

Well once you have your roms and have put them in your current roms directory then in GameEx you simply Update List found in the bottom of the the MAME section. Also make sure you have setup the filters to fit your needs in the Setup Wizard or Advanced Configuration.

well, i guess i should have been more specific....sorry.

but what i need to know is how to get the roms to be playable and detected by gameex. i know about the update list, i just have a ton of roms for nes that i want to play, just idk if they need to be configured? or just put in a folder, and pathed to gameex and then im good to go.

The roms themselves don't need to be configured. Just point to the path and play. As far as the emulators however, they do need to be configured as far as resolution, controls, etc. Only Arcade roms need to be configured sometimes as there may have been changes. Programs like clrmame help in managing these.

When you are setting up an emulator point to the path where the emulator is.

Point gameex to the roms folder for that system.. If your roms are ZIPed the your rom fileter will be *.zip

That means it will display any file that has that extention.. If you have others setup use them for refrence when adding new ones.

If you need help getting a specific emu going the please post here or use the search as it most likely has been discussed.

But we will NOT aid you in finding ROMs.

Thanks

i got everything to work as far as it showing the emulator and roms....but when i click on them to play, it goes to a black screen, then back to the game ex screen. any thoughts? everything, as far as i can see, is linked to the correct spot....the roms work perfectly in the emulator itself, but id prefer to run it through mame

Goto C:\Program Files\GameEx\DATA\Runitgame.bat and Right click and choose EDIT..

Post the contents here.

This "it has two lines...it tells about the game and the emulator without any errors.." Doesnt give me enough info to see how its being called.

I'm not dogging you out...If I were to do that, Brian would ban me from the forum, and I don't want that...

Having said that:

This post makes no sense whatsoever...

You are saying that the roms work in your emulator, but you want it to run in mame. It doesn't make sense, because Mame is an emulator.... (it's a big circle)

Gameex is a frontend for those emulators. Gameex does not emulate anything, it is a program used to organize your emulators, and other programs, to make them easier to use.

Why don't you tell use what emulators that you have that are verified to run the roms that you have, and we can go from there.

Or:

What you were wanting Gameex to do for you?

okay, well i did mis-speak....i can honestly admit im horrible with speaking on forums.

what i meant, was that i cannot get GAME EX to run my gens+ (sega genesis) emulator properly. i want game ex to run that so that i can play certain games.

This forum thing can be tough...I had a hard time posting without sounding like a was after you with a flame-thrower... :P

In the advanced configuration, go to where you have the setup for Gens+

At the top of the page, there is a button that says "export" configuration (or something like that)

save the file to your desktop, then open it, and copy and post the contents into your next post.

I'm waiting....

Also Id like to suggest using GENS32 surreal as your emulator.

I have really good luck with it..

Your command looks ok..

With that said Gens+ may need other parameters to run correctly eg.. /load or somthing

A quick google search yeilded ) results... Another reason to try a diffrent emu..

If google doesnt yeild resutes it may because its not well supported... Other wise a few posts would come up..

anyway.. Thats whait Id look into

This post doesn't say that you have Gens+ running games... Do You?

You should be running the games in the emulators themselves first, and then set the emulator up in Gameex....

I tried running this emu with a rom and all worked fine for me. When running outside of GameEx we mean from commandline, not from the emu itself.

Only other thing I can think of is maybe trying to not use the database. Clear that section out not to use the [Console] Sega Genesis database.
