How do you create and Advanced Configuration File?

As per the title, how do you create an advanced configuration file? A lot of the games I want to run through GameEX run through a loader (a menu box that pops up and you have to click Play or press Enter).

Thanks.

Sensible Soccer 2006. I can get passed the loader doing exactly that, but then the game starts to flicker. The screen flickers. It's weird. It doesn't do it when I load the game outside of Gameex so something is causing it and I don't know what.

Just to explain why its flicking its because as its using a loader, gameex thinks the game has finished as explained in the FAQ, so GameEx is showing back up again and both apps are trying to draw to the screen at the same time.

The configs are located in c:\program files\config\emulators

Go here with windows explorer, and create a copy of one of the existing ones. You then edit this in notepad. Save it, and select it in for the emulator in the configuration utilities.

What exactly dont you understand, so I can help better?

Thanks.

Tom.

Tom,

I don't understand this instruction:

"and in the wait for processes section specify the process name of the actual game"

I cannot find 'wait for processes section' in any configs.

Thanks,

Kevin

Are you looking at the ini files in C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS in notepad

Do you not see this?

#Additional processes to wait to exit or close on exit. Dont include the .exe. Leave blank not to use.

Process1=

Process2=

Process3=

Process4=

Cracked it. I was looking in IMPORT-EXPORT ini's.

Thanks Tom.

I'm having some problems with this one.

I've opened an advanced config and put SensibleSoccer2006 in the "wait for processes", and saved it. But when I import it from Advanced Configuration Menu, all the fields are blank.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.

You dont import it.

Make sure the the file is in C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS

The in the advanced configuration menu look for the setting that says "Advanced Config" for the emulator you have set up to run sensible soccer. Then select the config from the drop down

Try this. Navigate to the C:\Program Files\GameEx\CONFIG\EMULATORS folder. Right click on a sample advanced config. Choose COPY then paste it in the same folder.. Now you should have a duplicate. Rename it to somthing sensible. Put in the values you want. Save it. Then use the advance config and tell it to use it.

EDIT:Tom Beat me to it... Again... :)

OK, I got that. But it's still flickering. And when I exit the game and gameex, my task bar has disappeared and my whole system starts acting strange. I have to then reboot.

OK so create a standard config with all the paths etc, set SHOWDESTOP=TRUE, then add the advanced config?

Didn't work. Caused it to exit the game AND gameex.

Did it crash, or just exit? Post your log.

No crash. Both game and menu still running. But it exited to desktop.

Find the process name of the loader in task manager then add that to the advanced config.

Im not sure what you mean by exit to desktop? If you set show desktop to true it should show the desktop. GameEx should still be running in the background (look in task manager).

The only process is SensibleSoccer2006.exe

This is what I put in the advanced config (without the exe)

Are you sure there not two? One for the loader and one for the game?

What exactly is it doing now, sorry I got lost in all the posts?
