I'm having some trouble with my cabinets joysticks while playing roms in znes. I never had a problem before when I just had a controller connected to the pc. When I move the joystick it works appropriately about half the time. The other half, I get errors such as BG1 layer disabled, mouse enabled in port 1, and extra devices disabled. Any thoughts on how to get rid of these errors and get the emulator to recognize the joysticks as the controllers?

Well first Id make sure you dont have any advanced controls setup for that emu in gameex.. It could also be that xpadder is runnning and remapping the joystick to key presses.. That would explain why it INTERMIDDTLY works then does weird stuff like disable BG layers.. Alot of emus have hotkeys that do this.. Id check in that..

you can always...well not always... but you may be able to remp those controls so they dont conflict with your other ones..

Good luck

Knowing what joysticks you have and how they are setup would help us help you troubleshoot. I think you've just got keys mapped to your joystick that conflict with the default keys used to enable/disable those functions in zsnes. If memory serves, standard numeric keys (1 and 5 I think) toggle the background and sprite layer functions in zsnes so it's easy to have unsuspectingly mapped them to your joystick.

You were right about the numeric keys...I changed the mapping and now I have rid myself of the BG1 layer disabled deal. However, the mouse enabled in port 1 issue is still there. I have znes version 1.43, but I saw a screenshot of 1.42 that had a section called add-ons. It seemed like it was where you enabled mice, light guns, and the like for your emulator. There is no add-on section in version 1.43 that I can find. So I guess my next issue is how do I disable a mouse or extra device in port 1 in znes version 1.43?
