Thanks sir. My issue was resolved by using the vista codecs. I'm running HiQ now. It's a tad slow but It may just me being picky. Nonetheless I'm a happy camper!

I have tried the many fixes presented here and still find my HQ and SQ vids from EMUMovies staggering about every 5-7 seconds. The stagger is not a system error, as the video seems to be running during these 2-3 second halts, only to suddenly 'catch up' and show the avi snap running at the moment after the halt times out.

This never happened on any of my systems up until 3(?) GameEX versions ago??? Wonder what is happening here.

-2.8 Duo, 4GB ram, SATA, Win XP-

WAIT......

Found something that is working.

ffdshow_rev2301_20081105_clsid version of FFDShow is causing NO delay in avi snaps of any kind.

Seems to work just fine once more with this version.

Yes, as stated though, recent versions of FFDSHOW work better unless you turn on sound for snaps, and startup videos wont work either.

Just to be verbose for Google. The issue has been reported the FFDSHOW Tryouts team here:

As suggested in a previous post I've heard to use the Vista Codecs to play vids better. I think I'm using the FFDSHOW codecs but... how can I tell which codec I'm using and how do I obtain and install the Vista codecs if I want to give them a go?

As far as I know (and I tested) the vista codecs still use FFDSHOW, and the issue with sound on still remains.

I should mention that I haven't payed attention to the distorted video lately, so Tom may have addressed it. But, from what sofakng is saying, it doesn't appear so.

I 'm posting here because another user started an new thread with the same problem, but this thread is loaded with good info, so it needs a bump.

I had this problem as well, and I tried EVERYTHING under the sun to correct it. I finally threw in the towel and converted my videos to Xvid format. They play great now, however, I accidentally made them smaller... so I might have to do it again. Grrrr..!!!

Anyhow, even with my audio option off, I still got the stutter, and pauses. I think it has something to do with the codec they are recorded in conflicting with Media player running in GameEx. I even went so far as to reload XP and start new... same result.

But converting did the trick for me. It took forever to do it though.

This is an interesting topic. I have a Dual Core E8500 with 4 gigs of ram and I donâ??t have this problem but I did have something like this happen with a prior hard drive. It would get stuck going from one video to another and hang for a second but it would not pause as the video was playing, only before. It would do so randomly on different videos, never the same onesâ?¦ Since I have replaced that hard drive and I did notice a video or two that was just plain bad. Next time I come across them I will mark down and report what ones.
