<_< Can anyone tell me if there is a simple way of having my screen to flip 180 degrees for player 2 as I am nearly finished building my very own cocktail cabinet?

cheers,

Rocket.

It is my understanding it is a function of the ROM.

Wont gameex do it if you push tab? Maybe another option is to install an extra button on the cab and have it simulate the hotkey for flipping the screen via your video card drivers.

If you are running WinXP (it may work in other versions, but I've never tried it), you can press ctl+alt+<arrow key>. If you press down, it will flip upside down. If you press up, it will go back to normal. These buttons are absolute, not relative (meaning no matter what orientation the display is in, it will go to normal if you hit ctl+alt+up). Be careful with left and right as it will screw up the icons on your desktop. I suspect you could write a script to do this, and then map it to a CP button or something. Another option is using the tab button, but that would rotate through. I would think a single button on either side of your cab would be best and have it mapped to the appropriate combination.

Alternately, if you just want this to work in MAME, there are options for each rom that allow you to set how you want the screen to display. So for games that were either upright or cocktails, they can be set to the appropriate mode. In MAME, hit tab, then select video options. You can try different ones to see what you like. This is set on a per rom basis, so it will need to be done for all applicable roms.

Thankyou all for your assistance, I have discovered that the cntrl/alt/up is only valid with certain video controllers, as I am using an old shuttle all in one mother board this is not possible (at this stage) I may look at adding a new video controller. The 'tab' command within gameex will rotate the screen through 180 degrees, however when used when in a mame game 'tab' gets you into service mode of the rom. I am aware that some roms allow you to specify the cabinet (upright or cocktail) in service mode, however with over 3000 games to choose from, I am really after something that will flip the screen when the second player comes up.

During my experimentation I have now created more problems, as I have mucked up the 'user interface' options (when you hit tab) so now when I am playing a game the down arrow (joystick down) brings up 'gamma', volume etc. Can anyone tell me how to get this back to default?

In your Mame dir.....Delete default.cfg in the config folder....

It will create another one when you next run Mame..........
