Does GameEx allow using videos ONLY for the screensaver?

Look at the game to video ratio setting in advanced config.

Yeah I'm with Tom on that one, I love the Mame attract screensaver, it kicks ass all over plain old videos. I do have a few videos playing but I have the higher ratio on Mame. Nothing better than having my cab sitting there showing me games to try

The main reason for changing the format of the new mame set to 640x480 was to use them as a screensaver as well as previews. My new sets are all 20-25 seconds of gameplay and 5-10 seconds of intro screen, I have those mixes in with commercials and other misc vids. The quality is about the same as if the game was playing and every video shows gameplay. To make the videos I actually played almost every game so all of the sounds and music would be there.

I like it a bit better than playing actual games because the games don't always load up every time, and many of the attract modes are not as good as the videos, for me anyway.

What I am thinking about is to have the 640x480 vids watermarked for each game system and use smaller non watermarked ones for the preview screen. I am not distributing sets with watermarks, but it is not that hard to do in virtual dub so anyone who wanted to could do it. That way the screensaver is an attract mode for all game systems installed on the cab.

I like sitting and watching the Mame attract mode, too. The thing is, it's just running Mame, and if you only press the coin button, it won't exit and you can play a game, which can be cute if there's something you see you wanna play. I don't know if the attract will continue after a period of no game playing, but if not, pressing exit will reset it to the menu.
