Im having issues with a fresh install of gameex running  mame.  I can install everything and I can even select a game to play and it will play however when I back into the frontend if I select another game in gameex gameex freezes up and will not load another game.

You are currently showing v18.64 installed so you are quite a few versions removed from current.

Please upgrade to GameEx v19.24 and report back if your issue is resolved or, if not, with an updated description of issue(s) presented and updated gameex.ini and log.txt files attached. Thanks!

It running but it looks horrible now!!! How do i get the scroll wheel on the right back?

How do I get rid of the clock?

The labels in gameex?

Wow it doesnt even look like a frontwnd any more..it looks like a windows  desktop !!

Please help me get it back to looking like an arcade again.

ok. Sorry. I appreciate the help. With all the new changes i am seeing on Gameex I'm now lost. It looks like your basic run of the mill media center.  A year ago I had gameex running MAME with the arcade video running in the background with  snapshots on the left with a vertical scroll wheel on the right displaying mame game logos.

no labels anywhere.. no clocks...just games and associated images. 1 button to select a game and 1 to exit out of the current game. Can you help me navigate to reclaim this?

You were running GameEx Arcade Edition. It is now within the same installer as GameEx.

You will need to copy your gameex.ini from your old GameEx Arcade Edition>Config path to GameEx>CONFIG_ARCADE_EDITION .

Next, C:\GameEx Arcade Edititon > to C:\GameEx

Make sure you are launching the new GameEx Arcade Edition shortcut under Start > GameEx.

Now I did copy my old ini file but its not what I had before.

I think what I had was a them of yours????

Also there is no logo images of the game titles displayed in the frontend.

H9w do I get rid of the texts??

Yes, that is Arcade Edition. Just copy the whole folder over then follow the instructions above.

C:\GameEx Arcade Edititon > to C:\GameEx

Then ini copied as above and note the new exe and shortcut.

They used to be two separate installs but now they are combined into one.

It should only take you a minute then you will be all set for the future :)

So I have 2 small issues that I can't figure out.... first I can't stop the  update roms from displaying when I first run AE.  In the setup wizard  hide update list is set to yes.

The second is when I set gameexae in the startup folder it doesnt auto run when I reboot. Suggestions??

Are you referring to where it scans emulators and databases at startup or are you stuck in a mame update list loop? Can you post another log please?

As for startup, what i normally do is drag the shortcut in the start menu to "startup". Does that work for you?

Posted

oh sorry. you need to create a shortcut first then drag the shortcut.

Pressing backspace will normally disable that. if not just let it update once. Is it stuck in a loop? Is there an issue in doing that? it does that when it detects a new MAME version. it looks like that is the case looking at your first log.

The setting you are referring to hides the option from the menu.

the contents of the folder into the contents of the folder. Sorry, i thought youd already done that. lets tackle one thing at a time please as doing that will pretty much start you over. in fact, dont do that now. it will really complicate things,

There is a setting to rotate. You must have invertedly turned it on.

Good morning gentlemen. I was able to get all of my issues  corrected  and Game Ex and Mame are working again as intended. Thank you for all of your help. I really appreciate it.

Interesting that GameEx and AE are now split.

GameEx is still my favorite and only FE for Mame emulation.

Thank you for developing this and maintaining it.
