LCD Plugin 1.90 Released

- Added custom key mapping support (Mame cfg files) so it should light up buttons correctly.

- Added variable speeds to lwa's for some variation

This is a bit experimental at the moment, so report back any problems here. You have to assign keys to the buttons you want to allow custom mappings for. If you don't use custom mappings you can ignore these settings and use the plugin as before.

mmm new LWA's :-)

My Betabrite sign works fine in the plug-in setup test, and the LCDTest works great too, but nothing works when I try to run a game.

Any idea's or tips?

Thanks!

I'm going to post a link to a movie file of this running on my cab.

i'd love to see that.

Do you have it enabled in the Plugin Configuration? It has to have a tick next to it in the list for the plugin to be enabled. Also check your GameEx log file, does it say it's using the LCDPlugin?

i'd love to see that.

You can check out some videos of my plugin in action here :)

yo kaze, i know it has nothing to do with the ledwiz (which is freakin sweet by the way) but how did you get your menu text to zoom in while it faded out as you transition through menus? that is awesome.

In Display Settings set "Menu Transitions" to 3D Alpha Blended.

Hey. I just noticed that you posted links to your videos. I have the MAMEInterop enabled, but I don't see anything. I tried both the pause and inserting coins with Dig Dug (just like your videos) and nothing happened. Any ideas?

What version of Mame do you have? Only newer versions of Mame support output I believe but I know the pause output was added in a fairly recent version at least.

I have MAME32 0.104u7 (which is pretty old). I'll download a newer version and see if it works. I'm guessing I can use MAME32 vs. just MAME.

I saw these a while back and they do look pretty nice. My only question is whether they would fit into an actual coin door? I would consider them very seriously if they could go right in my Atari coin door since that would replace the half broken and sometimes sticking pair I currently have!

If you don't have a coin door on your cabinet, then you need one or two of these babies!. They are designed to look like the coin slots of the old days, but don't need coins to add credits. Just press on the red translucent face. The light source in these can be used with an LED-Wizâ?¢ for animation purposes, or can be wired directly to the 5v line of your PC's power supply for constant on.

NOTE: It is virtually impossible to photograph the actual color of these. I tried three cameras and none of them could handle the red properly. The image above shows a yellow-orange light, but these things throw a deep, bright RED light.

Features:

* Specially designed to take advantage of the powerful output capabilities of the LED-Wizâ?¢

* Ready-to-Use Illuminated "Coin-Drop" replacement. No Soldering Required!

* Amazing light source. Packs the intensity of 5 normal Superbright LED's inside each button!

* Wide angle of illumination evenly lights the entire face.

* Incredible Efficiency. Virtually no heat compared to conventional lights. Will last for many years with no bulbs to replace!

* Legend is printed on outdoor-grade, self adhesive vinyl with pigmented inks and is die-cut. It won't fade or wrinkle.

* Pre-Attached, extra-long 48" wires with resistor termination.

* Includes Cherry Microswitch and plastic retaining nut (.25" Terminals)

The price will be $8.95 each.

I honestly don't know. The only thing i do know is that you'd need to drill a hole an inch & eighth (same as pushbutton hole) to mount them. You could ask someone at groovygamegear for the complete dimensions though.

Ahhh, so if it uses a standard 1-1/8" hole, then it probably won't work. I wouldn't have anything to attach it to. A standard coin door uses a square hole that's ~2x2".

I've been in contact with RandyT from GGG recently (about the awesome looking GP-WizRX-ST...I WANT IT!), but I haven't asked about these lighted buttons. I'll do that next time I email him though.

I've ordered 2 of them. I'll let you know the dimensions when they arrive in the post. If you really wanted to you could use them, with a little ingenuity.

It's not a question of if I could make them work. It's more a question of whether they would work better than what I have. If they are at all lose or want to spin, they aren't any better than what I have!

I think you misunderstood me (i didn't mean getting them to light up) i was talking about finding a way round problems mounting them securely.

That's what I meant. I can obviously make them light up, but if the buttons spin/shift in the square hole, I'm only slightly better off. But it's really a wash since I still have a problem, it's just a different one.

I just used these to replace my standard green coin buttons on my CP. They will not spin because there are 2 round tabs at the top and botton i had to drill two small holes around the spot where the bottons fit. Needless to say they are solid and will not move.

Has anyone else had an issue with 1.92 not saving the ledwiz configurations. For some reason it will not save for me, also it freaks out pretty bad when I try to use two LCD panels at the same time (Betabrite and BPP-440)

Hi Circo. I'm not sure if you can use 2 at the same time (something to do with ledwiz.dll i think).

No, the ledwiz.dll has nothing to do with Betabrite and BPP-440 you should be able to use them both at the same time. Although I don't own either hardware to test here. I don't think "freaks out pretty bad" is much of a technical term to go to help out in any way I'm afraid. I'm not sure why your having problems saving your LEDWiz configs. Make sure you have the latest version of GameEx, I remember older versions of GameEx was saving older versions of the plugin over the top and would mess up the configs. It happened to me a few times. The only way around it was to make sure your installing GameEx with a newer version of the plugin. Don't download the version attached to this thread. Noone else has reported saving problems in this version, so I'm not sure what could be going wrong.
