Hi Folks ! I'm thinking about purchasing the LEDWiz (buttons as well) for my CP (whenever i eventually get round to making it) but i was a bit put off after reading the review on RetroBlast. Mainly because of hardware incompatibility. Below is a snippet of the Review Conclusion.

A few hiccups

During the review, some hardware incompatibilities were found with LED-WIZ. Certain commands to the LED-WIZ hardware can cause problems with the LED-WIZ when used with certain PCâ??s (basically any PC not using an Intel or Via Chipset) or when using USB 2.0 hubs. Luckily, some software workarounds have been found. Unfortunately at the time of this writing, none of the workarounds have been incorporated into the GGG supported software or GGG development software.

As far as i can tell from whats stated above it should work on my PC. I'm using a Shuttle PC (Motherboard FT61) which uses an Intel P4 478pin socket and has a VIA VT6307 supporting 400Mb/s, 200Mb/s or 100Mb/s transfer rate (not sure what this VIA chip does) as well as onboard graphics (ATI) and sound (RealTek). I know it's still early days for the LEDWiz and issues will probably get ironed out. I think the LEDWiz is a great idea - I just don't want to fork out for LEDWiz & Buttons and then find compatibility issues.

Any advice would be appreciated !

I've never heard of any of these problems myself. I wouldn't worry about it. The interface I'm using with the LEDWiz plugin isn't official software from GGG. So it may not have any of the issues mentioned in the article. Also, I need testers for the plugin I'm developing, so if you do decide to get a LEDWiz, you can help test here.

Ah ! HK ! I had a feeling if anyone could answer this it would be you. Problem is (I'd love to help but) i don't have all the cash together to buy all the necessary tools, mdf, acrylic for CP and tinted polycarbonate to cover the tv display etc. I'll buy the ledwiz and buttons in the next month but i'm afraid it will be summer before i start to build my CP & Cab - i'm waiting on the Government SSIA (saving scheme) to come thru which won't be until end of may. If you'd accept a donation via paypal for the necessary ledwiz stuff i'd gladly donate as i think it's a very worthwile addition to anyone's cab and i'd like to see GameEX feature this ! Just send me a PM with details and i'll donate no worries ! Sorry i can't be of further help at the moment but leave it with me - i have a rough sort of CP i use just for test/configuring and i'll order the ledwiz stuff shortly but beware ! I'm no wizkid when to stuff like this !

Thanks again !

Hi iano, thanks for the offer but keep your money for your cab. If your not a registered user of GameEx, you could always donate money for that instead.

The plugin should hopefully be finished by the time you get your CP made :)
