Friends, I'm kinda new here, but I've been fighting with this VP cabinet for a month or so, and finally switched PCs (to a much more powerful pc and graphics card) and though I have Pinball Emporium installed, I've decided on PinballX for my cabinet.  Here's the short of it - Future Pinball works perfectly when I run it from fploader.  When I run the same table(s) through PBX the playfield is far too narrow, it has the DMD on the upper left of the playfield and the backbox is, like the playfield, too narrow.  Sorry, I should have mentioned that I am running two monitors (Playfield and backbox).  I hit Q and resized everything while the game was up and running, tried saving it in various ways (as default, etc.) but nothing I do seems to keep it from loading back up with the sizes wrong and that pesky DMD.  I have gone through the display settings in Bam, FP and the setting program for PinballX countless times.  I've read and read and READ through various similar issues and tried their fixes to no avail.  I made sure that my setting were identical to the settings that Terry Redd posted in his link in this same forum(I think that was his name, sorry if I got that wrong, I know he's a VIP here, as he should be!) but still no dice.  I've changed the DPI scaling options on both the pinballX exe files and fploader exe files and again, no luck.  I know I'm missing something but I've run out of places to look, boxes to check/uncheck and I'm completely out of ideas as to where to even LOOK.  Any help would be SO greatly appreciated.

Please attach your pinballx\log\log.txt and pinballx\config\pinballx.ini files.

I guess this is the post you followed? https://forums.gameex.com/forums/topic/18508-guide-how-future-pinball-should-be-setup-for-bam-doflinx-pinball-x/

I don't have FP installed anymore so might not be much use, but from memory for the DMD stuff try searching for HUD and translite, i seem to remember having to move the 'hud' dmd in FP

Hello, and thank you SO much for replying!  I have attached the files (and realize I SHOULD have done that right from the start, sorry).  I don't recall seeing anything about a HUD setting but I will definitely look again.  I'm hoping that the attached files will shed some light on what might be causing this frustrating issue.  Thanks again, seriously (I've been refreshing about every five minutes since I posted just in case someone saw it an answered, lol)

Not sure if this is the main issue or not, but your FP launch parameters don't look right;

/open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exit /arcaderender/STAYINRAM

Try adding a space between arcaderender and stayinram, i.e.

/open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exit /arcaderender /STAYINRAM

That allowed me to save the table settings when I exited the game and it appears to have transferred to the other FP games as well!  Allllll that frustration over a single "space", lol.  Thank you SO MUCH!  Now onto hurdles number two and three - the DMD still being stuck in the upper lefthand corner of the playfield (and I've unchecked every box I could find that said "Enable DMD") and figuring out why I can't get in the various missing pieces of the tables through the Gameex ftp.  I have it set correctly (paid version on port21) and it's connected, but I'm still missing something.  I did the "import all" and it did find a handful of playfield screens (or whatever they refer to the image at the left side of each game) but nothing else.  I've tried connecting to deeper folders on the ftp site within the future pinball folder, but it makes no difference.  I used to do a LOT with ftp sites many, MANY years ago (I used to design websites in the early days when Netscape was the big dog in town, lol).  Most of that knowledge has gone by the wayside and navigating the ftp program is super rusty for me.  So I'm hoping it's some minor thing I might be missing.  You have been an IMMEASURABLE help on this, and I won't bother you with every little thing from here.  I sure do appreciate you taking your time to work with me and get this thing working correctly!

The devil really is in the detail sometimes ;)

For the DMD issue i'm pretty sure you need to drag the dmd in the FP editor for each table - but i'm rusty with FP

The FTP importing might have failed because of file matching (depends what your tables are called and what names are used on the FTP). You can also try Database Manager as a replacement for the standard Game Manager it can allow you to view available files from the FTP before importing (it comes with a manual too thanks to @Mike_da_Spike so have a quick read of that to get FTP etc setup if you go that way)

Glad your making progress anyway, let us know if you hit any more issues you can't resolve

I downloaded the Database Manager and LOVE it!  Though I definitely do need to read the manual, lol.  When you say "drag the DMD in the FP editor" I'm not sure which editor you mean.  The "Q" when the game is running is the Bam editor I think, then there's the FP preferences, and the Gameex settings.  I've looked through those all pretty thoroughly and it's likely that they might be using terminology that I recognize??

Well, I've sprung an entirely NEW problem and it's a pretty tough one.  In PBX if I choose certain games (they seem to be the fancier games, so I suspect lots of extras) and try to run the table, the playfield screen goes black and makes the windows error noise (presumably there is a pop up window but I never am able to see it).  The mouse goes dead, and the only thing I can do is either windows key/tab to restart, or task manager/tab to restart, and when I do, the mouse comes back as a tiny black dot.  I've disabled Joy2Key, Pinball Emporium, and just about any other startup process that looks like it might be the cause, but it now does no good.  When I initially disabled Joy2Key and Pinball Emporium, then restarted, my mouse came back like normal.  As soon as I tried a different game that it didn't like, the mouse was gone again.  I should point out that I did run and play another game before this happened the second time.  I've looked at the log and the last entry is just showing that the game in question started (or was trying to start) - had this in the last entry.

/open "[TABLEPATH]\[TABLEFILE]" /play /exit /arcaderender /STAYINRAM

There's a section in this document - search for 'hiding hud elements' Future Pinball and BAM Mega Guide by TerryRed - Installation and Setup - Visual Pinball Tutorials - Tutorials - VPForums.org

edit - you have another thread for the tables not launching  & mouse staying hidden issue so ignoring that here.
