confirmation of selected gamepad does not work

In the Input Settings section of the GameEx Setup Wizard, I select the gamepad device I wish to use then exit. I confirm the selection I made is recorded in GameEx.ini (joystickDevice=GenericUSBJoystick), but when I re-open the setup wizard all I see is a blank box int he Gamepad Device to use drop down. The gamepad I selected does not work in GameEx. Any ideas?

Please attach copies of your gameex.ini and log.txt files (no copy and paste).

Also, what gamepad ate you using? GameEx is compatible with the Xbox controllers without the need to mod the input settings.
