Hi,

First of all I would like to thank and congratulate the author of GameEx for excelent piece of software.

I use it only for mame and other emulators, no dvd, music, photos etc.

First thing I did was to download themes and configured GameEx in advanced mode. I choosed the retro future theme and the program didn't want to start because I said it can't localize the "alien league" font. I did some research and I found it on the web and then installed it. Now it runs however there are some nasty numbers at the top right corner which I don't know how to get rid of (see pic). Update, I just snapp the pic and for some reason it don't show any of that nasty stuff (it's around where it shows the date).

I didn't have problems with mame, however I would like to know if there is a way to stretch all mame games to run in 16:9 mode so it will fill my 16:9 screen completely? I'm using regular mame command line for windows.

On the beginning I had problems with Nes but when I set it to run in full screen it works now nicely.

Now every emulator except nes won't show the video. for instance:

in N64 I have a project64 configured to run in FS, games are visible under gameex but when I run it it gives a error sound and nothing happens. I have to hit CLEAR on my remote to get back to gameex.

in GBA i use VBA and I see games in gameex but when I run it, i can only hear sound but can't see a thing. In vba i used the option Full screen other because the first ones are not available.

In Snes I can't even to see the games. I' positive that the directories are set up correctly. I even tried to filter the extension to smc but still no luck.

In neogeo it just loads the game and goes back to GameEx. Same thing with Zinc, and neogeo pocket, and playstation.

I really like the prog and will probably buy it (he nag screen really takes a while) but it would be great if I could run those emulators without a hitch.

Thanks in advance

yes all of them work no problem without gameex

make sure both emus are set to launch roms in fullscreen.

what do you mean both emus? GameEx is just a frontend. The emus are all set to run in full screen.

I just got GBA working by setting Show desktop in options in gameex. Only thing that bothers me here is the options at the top that can be taken off only by pressing ESC and I would like to take this automatically every time I run a game.

Did you do all the settings manually for the emulators you can't get working in GameEx or did you import settings?

For GBA, in the fields "Wait before keys" enter 1500 and in "Keys to send" enter {esc} and GameEx will wait 1500 ms then press escape once.

thanks but I already found in ini file option to disable menu automatically and now it's all good. Also I got a nice progress. It turns out I had wrong genesis emu (I had gens instead of Gens+) now it works. For some reason SNES games are visible now (I didn't changed anything) and can play those too.

So so far I'm running GBA, NES, SNES, MAME, GENESIS.

I need help with N64 (project64), Neogeo (neorageX), Neogeo pocket, and PSX (epsxe)

any help is quite welcome

when I set n64 to show desktop I actually had a chance to see what the error is. Is said "attempt to open file failed" the paths has to be good because gamex see roms. Any ideas?

and about MAME, how can I stretch games to fit whole 16:9 screen?

Whats your command like like for P64? It should look like below:

Project64.exe [ROMPath]\[RomFile]

Notice there are not quotes in this one.

Doh! hehe fixed now...sorry about the head scraching over that.

Okay not sure what your issue's are currently with ePSXe but below is my commandline:

epsxe.exe -nogui -loadbin "[ROMPath]\[RomFile]"

Oh I am using PEOpS CDR Driver 1.4 plugin

I may look into NeoRAGEx but thus far that one has ran slow for me for some reason, so been stand-offish about doing up support for it.

I'm not sure if it's a problem by my images are in *.img format.

The comand says to load bin so...

any ideas?

what exactly is your epsxe issue? playing images mounted on a virtual drive, or a cd from your cd-rom drive?

EPSXE issue I'm having is when I load the image file from gameEx then screen goes black and nothing happens. I have to quit the game using remote "CLEAR". I'm using image files with extension .img

they work no problem when using epsxe alone and command load image.

I had that problem also. Sometimes it loads. Sometimes it doesnt. I made a custom map file for my games. So far so good. Crosses finger.

I don't claim these as being the best settings or even right for you...but they are what I'm using and the Emu is running thus far fine for me.

*Update*

I looked into NeoRAGEx, and I'd have to say its a no go. :( Maybe look at some of the other Neo-Geo Emu's.

As for MAME and 16:9 I'd suggest reading here.

Hey thanks a lot for some info. I managed to get epsxe to run and it's all good. mame problem was also solved.

can somebody post a link to emulator of neogeo that works under gameex and supports new games such as metal slug 5?

Also, now I'm on a mision to run sega saturn and dreamcast under gameex. They work fine alone but from gameex I have some problems.

when I run saturn, I can run it but it's in a small window (any idea hot to set it to automatically go full screen?) and deamon tools seems not to load the image. Can somebody share with deamon tools command Before and after within gameex?

in dreamcast I get totally nothing because I have no clue what command should be used other than mounting in deamon tools.

Thanks in advance

Winkawaks is a cps1/2 and Neo Geo emulator. Thanks to nologic for making my vision come true.

yeah you have the choose of ether:

Final Burn Evolution

WinKawaks

Both are very nice and both do #5

As for WinKawaks not playing the newer games...maybe its the rom set your using...course I'm a noob at this stuff currently.

For Saturn I'll take a shot at it that your using SFF...there are a few different Emu's for it. Basically run it raw then press ALT+ENTER taking it full screen then ESC to exit. This will then have SFF's last used state set to Full Screen...thats it...it should be good from then on out for GameEx.

Dreamcast look here. As it has a base GameEx ini to import and more importantly a link to headkaze's Chankast Launch.

Any ways the forum has a really good search engine...you may want to give it a spin some time.

I've only been doing this for a few weeks my self...and I'm still figuring stuff out...course I am trying to stuff every thing and its brother into GameEx. ;)

Yeah thanks a lot bud, I managed to get everything the way I like it. I sort of dropped dreamcast on the way because I dodn't want multiple virtual drives. Saturn work great tho...

Thanks again for everything

hmm should only have need for one virtual drive unless your planning on running both Emu's at the ?same? time.

I read some toturials in this forum and all of them described the technique with dreamcast on creating multiple virtual drives and mounting each game to a different one, then running with command mount.bat from which setting would be given from chankast-launcher.

you know what? I didn't give up:D Now I'm working on winuae and CD32 (had that console as a kid, lots of memories)

Thanks

Well those tut's are wrong. ;) You only need one virtual drive as you will only be needing one CD image at a time mounted...since you can only play one game at a time.

While I don't have a bunch of games setup for it...I do have a few, and I use that GameEx ini and the launcher...no batch scripts, or any thing else...and I'm able to play what ever game with just once virtual drive, since the launcher will mount and dismount CD images.

Tho I just edited my Sega package by adding a line to the DreamCast INI to make sure Daemon Tools dismounts the CD image.

great, I will definately give it a look. You mentioned final burn evolution recently. Did you tried it under gameex? I have a problem that the emu can't see my roms (they worked just fine under neorageX) I'm not talking about gameex, I can't see it even in finalburn directly. I tried to rescan it and make sure that directory are right but still no luck.

Posted

Yes I have Final Burn Evo running under GameEx just fine.

The roms that are used by NeoRAGEx are different than those used by Evo...if you check their forums...you should be taken care of.
