Hi all,

Hoping someone can help me here. Please be patient, I wouldn't call myself a "noob" but I can't get a grip on this GameEx thing.

I've installed MAME32, and GameEx. Went through the configuration and entered info as accurately as I could (it could all be completely wrong mind you). When I did "Update List", it took aaaaaages, and brought up hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of ROMS.

I only had one rom in my roms folder, that was a snes rom. This did not appear in the rom list.

So I think to myself "Sweet, they must've been hidden in the install somewhere". So I go to play one.......

It goes to a black screen for a few seconds, then back to GameEx........

So I guess my questions are:

* Where does update list look for roms? And how can I remove all these roms that I don't want (and have no clue where they came from!)

* I've read back past posts about the game not playing issue. I've checked the advanced command options, I've turned off bezel. Still happening.

Any help or suggestions would be awesome.

Thanks,

Claire

GameEx will show all games in Mame by default even if you only have one. In the Setup Wizard under the Advanced config, there is an option under "Advanced MAME Settings (2)" called "Only Existing ROMS". Set that to Yes and it will only show the ones you have. Also you can turn off "Verify ROMS" and it will update quicker.

The List Update does take a long time as it goes through every game. Turning of the verify will make it run quicker though.

Great, thanks headkaze (you seem to be the man of the moment!)

Forgot to mention, the rom that was in the folder "roms" doesn't appear.......

Thats because you mentioned it was a SNES rom, the update list feature you are doing is for MAME, not snes, snes emu will have to be setup separate, and you go into it by going to EMULATED GAMES from the front menu, then if you setup your snes emu correctly, the snes section will be listed there, you go inside it, and you then will find your rom.

PS. MAME is for Arcade Games, for your snes rom you will need to install a snes emulator, for example snes9x or zsnes

Awesome thanks, will have a go at that!

Forgive me for being a nark, but I've looked and looked and it doesn't say that anywhere. I just assumed that GameEx contained major emulators......

Perhaps this should be added to the FAQ?

When you dl and install gameex. It should ask you if you would like to dl any new emulators.
