will the karaoke section run stand alone ? I am interested in being able to play karaoke .mpg's,vcd's and dvd's only I'm not interested in using the rest of GameEx . I am quite happy to pay the 12 pounds if it does

sure, take all the other options off the menu. Done. And yes, you should pay the registration.
