anyway to disable auto updates?

it may sound dumb to some of you, but the version of gameex i have has nothing wrong with it, so i don't feel the need to update... i hear a lot people update and then things go wrong. i don't want to totally do away with my option to update, just not have that update screen come up and have to press backspace to rid of it.

There is an option to turn it off. Its under Enable/Disable in the configuration.

Is there any way to roll back to a previous version? Is there a place I can download a previous version? My Mame games won't launch and I would like to see if they still work in a previous version.

I expect Tom can get a previous release to you. I'd PM him.

If you're worried about an upgrade disrupting game-play in the future, do what I do, copy the existing GameEx directory before allowing the upgrade. Things can go wrong, for numerous reasons, some the program's fault, some not.

Luckily, GameEx doesn't use the registry for settings, so its very easy to return things back to how they were by copying back the directory. This is the same for MAME.

With a product with rapid and multiple software releases, it pays to be pro-active and manage things yourself...

Two quick questions:

Play donkey Kong .... does the screen go black and then come back to the Play game option in GameEx?

Play a game like Mortal Combat or Killer Instinct ...... does that play ok? IF so read on.

What you probably are seeing is one of two things.

A.) You have Mame located some where else other than c:\mame32. In Mame you need to click default directories and change the path.

B.) The games you are trying to play are vertical which by disabling the option for "use bezel for vertical games" will allow them to play.
