Should now support merged rom sets

Enhanced image quality of icons/snaps/previews and backgrounds

Several memory usage optimisations related to images

Thanks to Headkaze's help, theme editor themes can be displayed in windowed mode and at different resolutions

Theme editor themes can be rotated dynamically

Theme editor themes now work via remote desktop

Hey Tom, any more work going into that joypad stuff that I showed you? Just wondered if it was still a work in progress or not. Thanks!

Your most welcome folks, got to keep the punters happy :)

I'd be interested to what you think of the improvement in image quality, its very noticable to me especialy when navigating the main start menus, ie the ones where the images zoom in. I also wanted to check its not affecting performance for anyone. I made some improvements to the code so some of it might run a little faster, although time might be taken up with the high quality image scaling.

Hi,

Just like to say this is very nice piece of software you have created here, I have a question, Within this latest release of gameex is it compatable to run extender to xbox 360 ?, I have it all networked etc and im running mce 2005 on main pc, I did do a search asking this question and someone said it was not compatable but that was dated in june, Just wondering if new version has changed this issue, If anyone has got it to work please let me know tia..

Sorry, no.

From the docs page: http://tomspeirs.com/gameEx/docs.htm

Q: Can I stream GameEx through my Xbox 360 or other Media Center Extenders?

A: Unfortunately it is just not technically possible to stream PC native full fps games to an Xbox 360 to an extent that would be good enough. If it was physically possible to do it well enough for the likes of real time gaming with the current extender technology, it would do it, but it's not.

If there's any slowdown / speedup at all it's minor enough where I can't tell the difference - but I can most certainly tell the difference in image quality. Looks awesome! No complaints from me! :)

Hey Tom,

I'm not sure what your timetable was for adding a Vista Media Strip to GameEX, but I did find a link that might be of some use:

http://blogs.msdn.com/astebner/archive/200.../04/689085.aspx

I've been in the process of upgrading to the most recent build and as always am willing to test any new features you add for the new OS.

p.s. your message box seems to be full.

I dont even know what a Vista media strip is!

I dont even know what a Vista media strip is!

Vista Media Center has new horizontal menus (strips) and tiles in addition to the same vertical menu as in MCE 2005. Think I have a screenshot here:

Anyway, I thought it might provide some insight on how the new Media Center handles menu items assuming you were planning on still providing a way for media center users to launch gameex directly.
