small keyboard input problem

sometimes gameex acts like i'm holding the key to skip whole pages, when i'm not. this applies to keyboard only. so its like pressing page up/down when i only want to move one row with the up/down arrow.

i can still navigate properly (up and down single items) using any joystick.

KeyboardDirectInput=False (i had other issues when this was true, like keys getting "stuck" down)

btw, restarting gameex fixes this, but i'd like a proper fix please.

any ideas please?

i can tell you specifically what causes this on my system:

minimise GameEx with CTRL+Escape key combo

restore gameex < note up/down arrow keys working fine

minimise GameEx with CTRL+Escape key combo again

start mame plus 107 ui

exit mame plus

restore gameex < note up/down arrow keys are skipping whole pages now!

start game

exit game < note up/down arrow keys working fine again

repeat as often as you like

its something to do with capturing/releases the keyboard input on lost/resume focus? or what is mame plus gui doing?

this is not such a big problem now that i know what causes/fixes it, but still i'd like to know what's going on please

actually, i was wrong, sorry - it's nothing specific to do with running the mameplus gui

just leaving and restoring gameex sometimes causes this - but i can't see what exactly makes it happen sometimes.

and running and quitting a game doesn't always fix it.

pretty annoying.

i'll try custom keyboard input so i can set the paging key and see if toggling that is a workaround.

It has to be GameEx not getting the Key Up notification from the CTRL key, as this is the paging key. This should not be an issue with DirectInput.

EDIT: As far as I remember turning on custom keyboard input will automatically enable directinput.

ah, of course. i'm using CTRL+ESC to get out of gameex, then not releasing CTRL until after gameex has lost focus.

changing the paging key out to fix this..

i have another Q, with custom input, how can make backspace and space both go back? im pretty sure they both used to work but there seems to be no way to bind more than one key in custom, or did they do different things?
