If you have an ArcadeVGA, then this info might be useful to you ...

Hiya,

I use an ArcadeVGA, and until today, I was having the following problem:

- Via MAME32 (using directly), all games were nice and 'full-screen' ... BUT ...

- Via GameEx, most games were fine, but some horizontal games (e.g. Mars Matrix) would be small, taking up only (approx) half the width and height of the screen (i.e. 1/4 of the screen area).

However, today I tried setting the "UseArcadeVGASettings" option (in GameEx's configuration menu) to "NO". Although this might seem counter-intuitive, it completely fixed the problem - all games now play in full-screen.

Hope the above info is useful :-)

i also noticed the same thing, games like galaga and galaxian the top would be cut off a bit in game ex

with arcade vga settings but it looked fine in mame32 with arcede vga settings, so am running mame32

and have it arcade vga turned off in gameex and it looks perfect and bezels work .

Thanks for the info guys! I'm running Avga on a horizontal arcade monitor as well, and was curious as to your Windows desktop resolution (interlaced or non?) and your options for GameEx in full. I'm having a heck of a time keeping vertical games from bleeding off the top and bottom; horizontals look great.

Would love to see a paste of your ini -- many thanks!!

Also - sorry to ask here, but I couldn't find the thread -- Tom, you mentioned once that your setup is on an arcade monitor w/640x480 res, no? How has that worked out for you? Do you get much flicker?

Thanks so much!

I hate to burst the bubble, but if your running all games full screen with hardware stretching you entirely wasted your money on an ArcadeVGA card and arcade monitor. You dont need either of those to do that.

I run my GameEx at 640 X 480 not MAME. I run all MAME games at there native resolutions where possible which is the purpose of using an ArcadeVGA and Arcade Monitor.

Ok. No, you're not bursting my bubble and I never indicated what setup I was using; I was simply asking folks what combination was successful for them. Thanks for making me feel like an idiot. Love GameEx, always supported it, and I'm paid up as well.

That said, you did partially answer my question, albeit in a dubious fashion.

Thank you. Keep up the good work. Love the front-end.
