Hi everyone,

I think GameEx is great, it fills lots of thing media center is missing. Thanks for making this great piece of software :D

I have 3 questions about it.

- My roms are split by folders (ex. hacks, Europe, USA, World, etc...), when I try to use the option "roms in folder" nothing shows up. Is there a way to keep all the roms by folder instead of having a giant folder with all the roms?

- When I put the movies from emumovies in the snap/video folders, GameEx get minimized when I choose a game which has an avi for it. The avi is working fine in WMP. What am I doing wrong?

- Last thing, whenever I play a mame games and quit back to GameEX, the sound from the mame games still continue to play in the background... If I choose another games from an emulator (ex. Fuzion) I have the sound from mame and Fuzion at the same time which is quite annoying

I noticed whenever I close media center that GameEx has always a dos windows open.

Thanks in advance for your help,

for your first qustion try setting roms in folders to YES on the emulator config this will make gameex look inside folders in the set directory

Setting "ROMs in folders" makes GameEx search all subdirectories so you want this on. Then make sure you have all extensions matching, i.e. if they're zipped up, the extension is .zip or .7z (depending upon what compression format you are using) & if it is zipped you also want to make sure that GoodMerge is on. If you do not have them zipped (how I have my all my console systems) then just make sure that the extension for them is correct, i.e. .rom for colecovision, .nes for nintendo, .bin for atari/genesis, etc; etc.

No clue, I'll be playing around with this later today so I'll let you know if I come up with the sae problem & if not, how I have mine set up.

That is really weird. When was the last time you did a scandisk & defrag? I know it's a long shot but whenever my system starts doing goofy stuff that's what I do & sometimes it does fix the problem. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Thanks all for your kind reply :)

Some updates regarding my problems...

After installing the ffdshow codec, the avi we're playing fine in GameEX! Thks!!! Should have thaught about it myself!

Also, the sound still playing after I've quit from MAME, it's not doing it anymore. I don't know what happen...Maybe it's the lack of sleep

As for the "roms in folder", it still doesn't work.. Any example I could check...?

Thanks again

ROMS IN FOLDERS DOES NOT WORK

Point blank, thats the reason. Everytime I see somebody suggest that, and then it doesn't work, it's the same reason. I've tried it on my end as well, and Roms in Folder just does not work. Your best bet is to either move everything out of their folders and put them in a root "rom" folder, or 7zip them and use GameEx's new 7zip functionality. It'll extract the 7zip file into a temporary directory, where you can then launch your rom from there.

Just to back Han's opinion up - The GameEx 7-zip functionality erases the need to make GameEx look for ROMs in other folders.

Ultra compression is the new .zip like pink is the new black.

Hope that helps! :)
