MAME32 controls not as good as MAME32FX... just me?

So I'm trying to set up the controls for MAME32 & I have to say, it's not as good as MAME32FX. The purpose of this post is I'm hoping someone out there knows some sort of trick, like swapping out a controller driver file or something like that. Here's what I am getting at...

Terminator 2 in MAME32FX. I can set the controls of my controller to the X/Y analog. I like doing it this way because it auto-centers. MAME32 does not allow me to do this solidly, like sometimes it'll let me set the controls, sometimes it won't. The 2nd joystick was preset to the exact same thing on that controller, I try swapping out default.cfg files & then when in-game, the analog is set to n/a. Yet whenever I use MAME32FX, all this works fine, but I need MAME32 in order to play more games & other games better.

Anyone have some words of wisdom to prevent me from putting my fist through something unomfortable?

Another thing is I can bind the X/Y Dec/Inc fine, it just refuses to do the analog.

I was going to say try moving the analog stick very quickly when trying to config it. I know some games work that way with analog controls, not sure about Mame though.

I thought Mame32FX had stopped being developed. He must have continued it again. That's good news.

I tried tapping the stick, also tried using the analog mode button to swap stick & d-pad, that didn't work either.

Ya, good stuff. No clue why it works in fx & not 32. weird.
