Slow running CHD's

This probably isn't the correct forum to ask this question, but a lot of you are using GameEx for Mame.

Does anybody have any experience with playing CHD's in mame? Almost every CHD I try to play is choppy and makes it impossible to play.

I don't think that it is my machine, b/c I am running a 2.4GHz P4 w/ 1Gb of RAM, and a 64Mb video card.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

It is not you or your machine. 90% of CHD games will not run at full speed. I don't how to explain it in techy terms but maybe in 5 years you can run them at 100% I really do stress MAYBE. Just know that the technology (CPU speeds) does not exsist yet to fully emulate them at 100%

Does anyone know how fast a computer will be needed (when available) to faithfully run ALL the games in Mame?

Such a thing will (almost) never be available, since harder-to-run games are being added all the time. Maybe a 5ghz machine would run all currently in MAME...

Again this was in May 2004. It sucks yeah but if we could emulate everything now...what would we have to look forward too???
