Hi Tom-

Just a question to see if you know if GAMEEX has any issues with Vista. I have a developer version I am testing within a few weeks, to test on a network level at work, and was curious to see if you have had a chance to try it with GAMEEX. If not, I will try it and let you know!

Hi Ricci, I don't know if it works, but I'd like to know.

Thanks.

Tom.

Sorry if this has been answered. I certainly couldn't find the answer.

Can anyone confirm if the latest Game EX will install and run with Vista Media Center that has been released to the public?

If not, are there any timeframes on when support for Vista will be added?

Appericate it.

Hello-

Sorry, I have not had time to test the beta Vista yet-I will try and load it up and give a report as soon as I test it out!

Well I decided to give it a shot on a freshly installed Vista Beta 2.

Windows Vista has a compatibility issue with Microsoft.NET 1.1 and won't let the program install, thus GameEX will not install.

Any plans on updating GameEX to only support .NET 2.0?

Can you try applying this registry entry, GameEx should install then.

GameEX finishes downloading the default themes and I get the following error box.

===============

UpgradeConfig.exe -.NET Framework Initialization Error

--------------------------

To run this application, you first must install one of the following versions of the .NET Framework:

v1.1.4322

v1.0.3705

Contact your application publisher for instructions about obtaining the appropriate version of the .NET Framework.

==============

Then the installer finishes (after much hard drive access). When I try to run GameEX from Start, I get the above error message. When I run Media Center, I do NOT see My Games listed.

Hope that helps.

Well I decided to give it one last try.

I forced Vista to install .NET 1.1 Framework and even .NET 1.1 SP 1.

After rebooting the system, I have to tell Vista to accept the incompatible program (.NET 1.1).

I then installed GameEX and when I attempt to run it from Start, I get the following error from GameEX:

So its back to uninstalling everything.

Tom, just as a friendly nudge if you will....here's a great link that I found:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...&displaylang=en

Vista Media Center is a great improvement over MCE 2005 and at this point its been running very smoothly and without any problems. I do not see myself going through the trouble of reverting back to MCE 2005 and it's unfortunate that I will have to make due without GameEX.

Thanks for your time.

I actually installed the Beta 2 this morning, and did the same thing and got the thing.

I dont plan to make GameEx only run on Vista WMC, which is actually what that download proposes, but I do plan to make it run on Vista. I don't need a nudge, just more money, or more time, but thanks a lot for testing it out for me, and for the link.

I expect GameEx to run on Vista perfectly come the release to manufacuting, which seems like could be 6-8 months off.

Thanks again.

Tom,

I can most certainly apperciate that time, effort and cost you have put into GameEX. The product is without doubt, great.

My goal with my new system was to run Media Center, and all other things are secondary. To me, the latest version of WMC is better than the older version. I have spent a lot of time myself builting this system, and tweaking the old OS and now the new OS. As much as I want and enjoy GameEX, I will have to patiently wait.

I hope you do consider adding a Start Page for the new WMC.

Thanks again and I'll keep my eyes out when you need any Vista Testers.

p.s. Even though I cannot use GameEX, I'll make a donation for the cause. Thank you.
