Model 2 error

Hi

Im trying to run the Sega Model 2 emulator on version 5.99,when i try to load house of the dead or top skater.. the only 2 roms i have loaded at the moment ( which work perfectly via the frontend) i see a black screen but nothing loads.

I have searched the forums and i think the problem lies with the m2loader that uses mouse positions to load the roms from the frontend.. i notice when it loads it chooses indy 500 when i really am trying to load House Of The Dead.

I think the mouse is going to the right position its meant to be in if the romlist was alphabetical,but by default Behind enemy lines,house of the dead,sega touring car championship and top skater are at the bottom of the romlist in model 2`s front end as they are model 2c.

I was just wondering if this was a known fault and would be fixed or am i doing something wrong, maybe the .au3`s for the emulators frontends rom list were created when you had the list alphabetically ??

Apart from that,many many thanks for a highly configurable hassle free front end.

I believe you need to edit the au3 files to with new cursor coordinates that match your screen resolution if you are going to use this older method. There was a au3 file in the package that when ran, gave you the correct position numbers for each game.

There is now a new "built in" way to run model2 games seemlessly from the MAME area. You need to set the options in the advanced MAME config first, then you can run the games without using the au3 files. I believe House of the Dead is not working correctly currently in GameEx, but the other "non-gun" games are working fine. BTW, how do you start Top Skater? I haven't been able to get it past the part when you are supposed to step onto the board and hit start.

GameEx Should do a click to sort the list alphabetically. Did you get the model 2 emulator from http://nebula.emulatronia.com/ ?

Yes i did Tom ,it seems to be missing that click.

When i exit Gameex i have a script paused m2loader icon flashing to a red cross down in the taskbar and i also have a dosbox on the screen that is black?.

Tom Could you make another m2loader.exe than doesnt go alphabetically and uses the emulators default layout?

Unlike the other posters here, I never had any problem with the game selections.

The default loader has always selected the games fine for me, including the one in version 6.14.

The new files you have posted here also work fine for selection except for the fact that the game stays in the small default window and does not go into full screen. Btw, if you maually use the option to go to full screen with these new files, you still get the same problem that has always been there with the "gun" games were the cursor is restricted to a small "window", even though the game is running in full screen. This does not ever happen when you run the emulator outside of GameEx.

I tried using the updated autoit script but it still missed the click,but i then tried the newest version 6.16 and that now seems to fix the problem :).

Many thanks for a level of instant support not seen with any other commercial program let alone free.

I havn't tried setting up Model 2 yet but a brief look at the EMULATOR.ini file with the archive you might wan't to try setting the FullMode=1.

BTW can someone tell me if it's worth adding Model 2? Are the 21 games it supports worth it? And are these Mame games it supports but runs them better (like Zinc?)

Model 2 games all select and work perfectly for me (version 6.27).

Headkaze, most if not all of the 21 games currently do not work at all in MAME. The Model 2 emulator runs most of them decently and at full speed. All the games are fully playable, but there are a few minor graphic and sound issues here and there. If you like any of these games, it is definitely worth adding the emulator.

The wrong clicking is either down to the theme you are using, ie bigger/smaller window title bars, or possibly resolution. I bet its your XP theme though. Take a look at that.

the first time i saw gameex doing that freaky mouse moving i nearly freaked out

it works here though, with extra large fonts and windows classic style

Hey Tom, rather than simulating a mouse click by moving the mouse (which it sounds like you are doing), it would be much more accurate to simuate the click by using SendMessage. I havn't checked this out, but does it have a listview? If so I have written C# code that will read the contents of a listview in an external process. It could probably be modified to send a mouse click directly to the item too. Let me know via e-mail if your interested and I can send you the code.
