How's it going guys, I am new to GameEX. I just found out about this frontend last night and I immediately purchased a lifetime membership. I haven't had much luck with other frontends working as I wished, but this one looks promising. Anyway's I am glad to be apart of this community! Now too my problem...

So I have setup MAME and Future Pinball perfectly, all roms are working along with snaps. Yet with my N64 Emulator and SNES emulator I can't seem to get the roms to show up in the list at all. I have double check the paths to the emulator and roms, I have also checked the command lines, all seems to be correct. Strange thing is when I choose N64 or SNES there are like 4 or 5 games listed that I don't even have, when I click them it acts as if it is loading the game and then go's back to the game selection menu. Any advice or direction would be much appreciated!

UPDATE: I apparently had the roms path wrong which is unlike me to miss that detail. So here is a new problem with N64, it is now showing all my N64 roms in the frontend, yet when I choose a game to play I get an error, "Attempt to open file failed". I will upload a pic of this error.

UPDATE: Alright so now I have N64 working, I had quotes around [ROMPath]\[ROMFile] in the command line, I removed these and BAM!. Although I am not having the same luck with NES, I see the roms in the game list but when I chose one it acts as if it will load the game and then returns back to the game list in the frontend. This one I am definitely stuck on because the rom paths and emulator path is for sure correct. The command line I copied from HERE zsnesw.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE]" Any ideas?

UPDATE: Alright well I solved all my problems guys (before anyone could answer too) ^^ So I guess nestopia is the emulator I should have been running all along instead of JNES. which I figured out too that even if JNES did work that the command line zsnesw.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] makes no sense. I tried to use jnes.exe "[ROMPATH]\[ROMFILE] but no luck. Well maybe my troubleshooting will help someone in the future.! :D Next time I wont be so quick to ask for help without troubleshooting thoroughly! later guys.

Let me be the first to welcome you to the forums! Glad you got things sorted out. We were all new to GameEx at one point in time, so feel free to ask for help... that's why we're here. One of the great things about this forum is the amount of folks always willing to lend a hand in helping others. To me that's what sets us apart from the competition (I'm looking at you HyperSpin) :) But seriously, welcome aboard and happy gaming!

Riffman81, thanks buddy. I can already tell that this is going to be and already has been a pleasant experience. This Front end is number 1 on my list. I have tried multiple FE's and all I can say is bravo! yes I can see that the community is thriving which is a good sign! Really looking forward to knowing all of you and contributing!

I'll echo that!

How is the Steam integration on this Front End? I'm about to purchase a years subscription as the Steam integration is what is most tempting me.

I personally haven't done anything with Steam in my setup (yet). But from everything I've read here and there on the forums, I gather it's top notch. Maybe one of the other members here will chime in with their thoughts on the matter. Also, as for subscriptions, to me personally I think a lifetime subscription is the way to go. A year can fly by in no time and with lifetime, you know your always covered when getting all the latest features and updates GameEx has to offer, as the FE is updated quite often. Just a thought :) Welcome to the forums!

I use the Steam Integration and it is one of the easiest to setup. I also echo Riffman's sentiment regarding the lifetime license. Just a few quid more is worth it.

I'll be setting up my steam tonight after work, so stoked that it can be integrated!

Hey vorstoss,

That was some great self troubleshooting you did there :D You showed some fine intuition skills, after having declared to yourself you had none - correct? :P You did the right thing though - you got stuck and you asked for help and had you needed it, we would have stepped in. But clearly you didn't need us man! GameEx is quite the tame beast once you get to know her ain't she? She's all claws and growls until you take a moment to understand what she is saying, wouldn't you agree?

Good to have you aboard! And yes Steam integration is not only simple, GE was the first to do it! I know that has nothing to do with me but dam i'm proud of that :D

how does the steam integration work? I have a ton of steam games. curious as how it integrates with gamex which is at its best with arcade type games.

Rather than setting GameEx to run the games individually or with the .lnk method, all you do is enter your Steam user ID and Password via Setup Wizard. GameEx will then access Steam and laod the games list based upon your Steam Games Library and pull videos or still images from the Steam site. Mind you, you may need a wrapper for some games and it will not convert the games to your cab CP. If the game supports game controllers, such as Xbox 360 controller, you are better using something like Xpadder and Adultery's Xpadder Pluigin to setup your controls for each game.

Yes as Draco said - it's as easy as entering your account name and GameEx will auto-populate your entire installed library. With videos, snaps, descriptions etc. It will only fetch/populate games that actually have been installed - all the rest are ignored. So you can have 400+ games in your library, but only 50 cab friendly titles actually installed on your system - GameEx will only populate what is installed ;)

Hey thanks man! Well I have absolutely no experience with GE, with other frontends yes. I have to say that this is by far the best I have come across! Maximus and HS don't compare IMO. Now I am learning more and more and it is becoming more apparent how it functions and I'm deff getting the hang of it!. Happy to become a lifetime member!
