I know this has probably been asked and answered a few times before, but here goes again. I did a search and did not find any simple noob style answers.

I have the gameex seemingly running ok, and all my mame roms are zip files with abbreviations. is there a easy way to have them read the correct game name?

When I say easy, can anyone explain it as if I am a total noob LOL.... I am using the most recent version of gameex if that helps.

thanks

LOL super noob here...... not sure what part of the setup that entails/does not entail I think I understand what you are saying, I am just not sure how to do it? Are you saying I do not d/l the mame emu fro the download section of the setup?

Hi there!

What may not seem obvious to a newcomer is that MAME has it's very own section in GameEx! You should setup MAME in that regard and i think that is what Tom was referring to. There are many reasons to do so, and many features that won't be clear unless you do so.

So, instead of setting up MAME as a regular emulator, try using the built-in magic! Launch the Setup Wizard, go to MAME Settings, and have a look-see ;) Set all your paths here and watch the magic.

PS: When in GameEx, you may want to hit "Update List" to reflect any changes.
